Euronews celebrates impartial journalism at launch of new Polish edition

00:00Euronews officially celebrated the launch of its Polish-language version with an event
00:04in Warsaw, attended by leading figures from the world of politics, civil society and communications.
00:10Among the guests were Nobel Peace Prize winner Lech Wałęsa, Interior Minister Tomasz Szymoniak,
00:15as well as opposition leader Mateusz Morawiecki. The chairman of Euronews defended impartial
00:20journalism.
00:21In a politically divided country like so many in Europe today, we will fight every day for
00:28neutral, objective, unbiased journalism. But we will also be a place without censorship,
00:35where all opinions, as long as non-violent, do have a place. Don't count with us to be
00:41nothing else but staunch supporters of freedom.
00:45We asked those attending the event what they thought about the opening of Euronews Poland.
00:51Of course it's important because it makes our news market richer. And you know, freedom
00:58of speech, it's very important, freedom of information.
01:02Well, Euronews is well known in Poland, at least for all those who are interested in
01:07international relations. With your competence and professionalism, you'll get implanted
01:12here and survive. First year, you'll get a very solid place among all the international
01:19and Polish media here in Warsaw.
01:20We expected this action and so I'm very happy that you'll have in Poland Euronews.
01:28With its new office in Warsaw, Euronews consolidates its presence on the continent and adds a new
01:33language to its 19 already existing. It now reaches more than 400 million households in
01:38160 countries.
