A shocking incident occurred in Amritsar’s Khandwala area on Saturday (March 15), when two unidentified men hurled an explosive, suspected to be a grenade, at the Thakur Dwara temple on Shershah Suri Road. The attack, which took place around 12:45 am, was caught on CCTV, showing the assailants arriving on a bike with a flag, conducting a brief recce, and then throwing the explosive before fleeing.

While no injuries were reported, the blast caused damage to the temple walls and shattered window panes. A forensic team was called to collect samples from the site, and an investigation is underway.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar suggested that Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, could be behind the attack, stating that it often misleads Punjab’s youth into committing such crimes. He assured that the perpetrators would be caught soon.

Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu condemned the attack, criticizing the AAP government for its failure to maintain law and order in Punjab. Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also pointed fingers at Pakistan, alleging continuous efforts to destabilize the state through such incidents and drone intrusions.

Local Shiromani Akali Dal leader Kirandeep Singh Monu confirmed that the temple priest and his family were inside the premises at the time of the blast but remained unharmed. The police are analyzing CCTV footage to track down the attackers.
