00:00Yeah, frustrating when goals go in your own goal that are involved in mistakes,
00:04it's obviously frustrating. I think the positive we have to take from it is that
00:08we've gone up against a top team there in division and we spoke before the
00:12game about this potentially being a chance for us to lay a marker down that
00:15I think it's clear to everyone that the top three this season, Sheffield United,
00:19Leeds and Burnley, the table shows it. They've been a standout three, a
00:22breakaway three and we wanted to come here and really give them a game today
00:27and I think they got that and if you look at the the overall course of the
00:29game, the chances were limited to them two. That's a big positive.
00:34Unfortunately, part of football that we see, particularly this stage of the
00:37season when games get quite tense because there's a lot on it, sometimes
00:40when two teams do cancel each other out they can be decided by mistakes
00:44unfortunately and that's how it was today. But you know there's real
00:48disappointment in the dressing room off the result but I think very quickly when
00:51we get back together there'll be a belief to be taken from that game for
00:55how much we went toe-to-toe with clearly one of the best teams in the
00:59division.
01:00How did you see the first goal? It was a terrific counter move, wasn't it?
01:05Our first goal? Yeah, great play and obviously when Haji, we missed
01:11Haji for a long time while we were here but Burnley have got an incredible
01:15defensive record and credit for that but we know that anyone that's come here
01:18particularly as we saw in the Sunderland game, our last game here, probably our
01:23sort of blueprint performance of the season of what we want the team to look
01:26like. Haji and Efron and now Jack Radony back, it gives us that sort of that
01:31option that when teams come here and offer a bit of possession like Burnley
01:37did, they started the game well, any mistakes that they do make can be
01:40punished and we capitalise on that.
01:43And they're equalised?
01:46Yeah, I mean the ball went out wide and we've made huge progress I think in
01:51the time that we've been together on being a solid defensive unit and
01:55particularly when teams get in the wide areas and how we defend balls that are
01:58coming in from cutbacks or crosses. I think today it was just one of those
02:02situations where you see there's a turnover in midfield,
02:05obviously Matt Grimes loses the ball which is a rarity in itself but
02:09there's still plenty of football to go after that but you know as I said we're
02:13playing one of the top teams in the league here and the players they've got
02:16in wide areas can hurt you and I think that's exactly what happened.
02:19And then I guess the killer was sort of in the second half and there's a mix up between Kitching and Brown, how do you see it 6-1 at half-time?
02:29Yeah, it's obviously both the lads involved would be disappointed, it's
02:33obviously a mistake and they'll be disappointed because they're both really
02:36really good players and as I said all the players involved in that
02:40defensive unit have been a big part of why we are in this situation now. So it
02:45was a bad way to start the second half and then when you're playing
02:48against the team of this level the big thing you're then focusing on and
02:52questioning is the response and I think the response is outstanding because
02:54immediately we got back on the ball, we took the initiative in the game and
02:59then for the remaining 30 minutes of the game a lot of it's being
03:02played in their half. So as I said of course no one wants to make these
03:06mistakes and unfortunately when it's two top teams and it's tense they can decide
03:10games but for us what went on after their second goal on another day as
03:15people have seen here when we're knocking on the door in the way that we
03:17did, it could be a different outcome so we need to take the confidence and
03:20belief from that.
03:23It's always difficult for goalkeepers to come in after they've played for a while isn't it? Will Brad need to pick himself up after that?
03:30I don't think Brad will need it. I know Brad and I've known Brad for a long time and he's a strong
03:33character. He'll certainly get it, he's got all the support that he'll need but
03:38yeah Brad was playing today because we've got every belief in his ability.
03:44Yeah and then to be honest this started at Bramall Lane you know that's an
03:54incredibly tough fixture that we had last week which has been proven all
03:58season and when you come on like you said Brad's been out for a period of
04:02time now and he got thrown in at Bramall Lane and even last week I thought he
04:05came in and handled it really well. Not only the couple of saves he made but in
04:10terms of how composed he looked in our build-up with the ball at his feet, he
04:14obviously gives us that outlet of he's got a good range with the longer kick in
04:17which we used at times today. So yeah all good with Brad.
04:22Obviously it came frustrating in the end and quite a bad tempered game in many respects. Frank was obviously sent off, what was said, what happened?
04:34I don't know I mean yeah something's obviously happened at the end of the
04:39game when down in the corner of the pitch which I stayed by the benches so I
04:42didn't see or hear what happened. I just came in and the guys told me that Frank
04:46had been sent off and obviously that's why I'm sat here now so Frank's been
04:50punished the last thing I'm going to do is get punished as well by talking too
04:53much about it.
05:04Yeah there was clear frustration from both teams I could feel it on the
05:07sideline you could feel it from our supporters no one needs me to state that
05:10there was there was a lot of frustration as I said we get to these type of
05:14fixtures this stage of the season it's it's tense but that's how it is we were
05:19obviously disappointed with the result and we were the lads kept enough
05:22composure to keep pushing and completely dominating those those final stages of
05:26the game and we're just unable to to get the equaliser unfortunately.
05:37Yeah yeah I think the big word is is probably perspective that we we don't
05:49want to sound defeatist when we talk about the top three but there have been
05:52games earlier on in the season against the Leeds as Sheffield United's and
05:55Burnley in the away game where it's probably been over before even with 10
06:0020 minutes to go so we know where we're at we know we've made a lot of progress
06:03we're a confident team particularly at home so we spoke about today being the
06:07opportunity to lay a marker down as I said and and we've done that and they
06:13are an incredibly strong team but the lads will know that we've gone two
06:16defeats there and people will say back-to-back defeats is that the blip
06:19but to give a perspective it's two teams that have beaten a lot of teams
06:23throughout the division throughout the course of the season so yes it's two
06:26defeats but how much is that weigh on our mind coming into Wednesday against
06:29Portsmouth not a lot if honest and if you look at the manner of the way the
06:32game played out if anything I think once the dust settles and particularly the
06:36frustration settles I think the lads will see that any team that comes and
06:40plays at the CBS at the moment we're confident that they leave feeling like
06:44Burnley did that they've had a hell of a challenge
06:49no Norman picked up a minor knee injury in training on Thursday doesn't appear
06:56to be anything too serious haven't got an exact time frame but yeah it was a
06:59slight knee issue from training
07:17yeah I've loved it obviously came quite out of the blue and I always had in my
07:23mind that having the opportunity to work with Frank again was something that I'd
07:25be keen on I knew I knew a lot about Coventry but didn't quite understand the
07:30scale of it until I came here to CBS and saw and felt the fan base so I've loved
07:34that but we've just asked there about the standout point is the is the group
07:38of players which when you're in coaching and managing management I think the the
07:43most important factor is always what kind of group of players you working
07:46with whether it be the the mentality the the personality of the group and then
07:50the ability and I'm just to be honest grateful for to get the opportunity to
07:55work with such a talented and a group of players of a brilliant mindset
08:01Jada Silver and Brad Collins when they were younger players a lot yeah kind of
08:06new Joel Atabodia from around the around the Academy set up but I think that's it
08:11really yeah yeah thanks
