00:00Good evening from Villa Park where Villa have made it 7 wins in all competitions with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest which was part demonstration of their squad depth and then a near disaster in game management.
00:18Unai Emery making 8 changes to his team for this game from the team that started Wednesday's 3-0 win at Brighton. Villa look fresh right from the start of the game, they were 2-0 up after 15 minutes, they scored twice in 2 minutes.
00:34Morgan Rodgers scoring and then Daniel Marlon getting his second goal in as many games. Villa cruising and it really looks a case of, by half time it looks a case of how many they would score and the second half was a completely different game.
00:48Nottingham Forest came back into it, they pushed hard, they got back it, they scored through Joseph Silva to make it 2-1 in the 57th minute and the rest of the game was nervy, very nervy.
00:58Villa had chances, Matt Sells denied Morgan Rodgers, also saved one-on-one from Marcus Rashford and denied Marco Asensio but there was a definite sense that Forest were the better team in the second half, they had chances.
01:13This game probably broke the record for the number of shots that whistled past the post and they were almost exclusively from the visitors. Forest had 19 shots in the game but only 3 on target and that was really the key stat.
01:26They did enough, Forest, in the second half to get something from the game but crucially and thankfully from Villa's point of view, they didn't get anything and Villa up to sixth in the table and still the sense that the momentum really is with them.
01:41It's been a huge week, obviously, beating Preston to go through to the FA Cup semi-finals and then beating Brighton and Forest, two huge wins against teams in the top half of the table and again a real sense that this Villa season has real momentum.
01:58Of course now on to Paris, Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Villa will be underdogs but they will go into that game with no fear and knowing that they have plenty in reserve for what is to come over the next few weeks of the season.
