00:00An 18-year-old pleaded guilty at the magistrate's court to committing sexual assault on a teenage

00:07girl at a religious school in April 2024. The accused pleaded guilty after the charge,

00:13framed under Section 14, Subsection A of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017,

00:19was read out to him before Magistrate Normaizan Rahim. He faces jail of up to 20 years and is

00:26liable to a whipping. According to the charge sheet, the offence was committed at the school's

00:31dormitory in Hululangat, where the offender was said to have hugged, kissed and forced the 13-year-old

00:37victim to touch his private parts. The accused was charged as a minor as the incident took place

00:43when he was 17 years old. The magistrate fixed bail at RM3,000 with one surety and set June 18 for the

00:51submission of a report from the Social Welfare Department and sentencing.
