00:00Namaskar! I am sure that you must be aware that how we start our morning impacts our entire day
00:10significantly. Since breakfast is an important aspect of our morning routine, our breakfast
00:16choices influences our energy, our mood and even our metabolism for the rest of the day.
00:24Today I am going to talk about how to start our day with energy and balance. I am going to talk about
00:31the Ayurvedic perspective, about which foods to be avoided in the morning and what should we eat.
00:38The first one is cold foods and beverages. According to Ayurveda, our digestive fire or Jathara Agni
00:46is at its weakest in the morning and it takes some time to become fully active as the day progresses.
00:53When we consume ice cold smoothie or chilled juices in the morning, this weak fire is further dampened,
01:01making digestion sluggish. In place of it, you can opt for warm beverages like herbal tea or warm water
01:08to start your day, to kick start your digestion. Next is heavy or oily food. Eating greasy parathas
01:16or deep fried snacks early in the morning may be tempting but it burdens the digestive system
01:23as these foods are tough to digest and so it takes lots of energy to digest such food and this would
01:30definitely leave you feeling lethargic. Light and easy to digest food like oatmeal or a simple poha
01:38could be a better choice for you. These simple foods provide energy without overwhelming the system.
01:46Third food group which you should avoid in the morning is citrus fruits. Fruits like oranges and
01:53grapefruits are packed with vitamin C but they are also very acidic in nature. Consuming these fruits on
02:01an empty stomach can irritate the digestive tract and cause discomfort. In place of these things,
02:08eat ripe banana or a handful of soaked almonds. They are gentle on stomach and provide essential nutrients
02:16and energy for the day. Number four on this list is fermented foods like pickles or vinegar based food.
02:26These fermented foods are great for gut health but not an ideal choice for breakfast. Their sour and
02:34pungent qualities can aggravate pitta and lead to digestive problems. It can cause even acidity. A nutritious bowl
02:44of vegetable upma or besan cheela are better options. These not only taste delicious and nourishing but also
02:53suits the digestive system. The last on the list is raw foods like vegetables and salads. Raw food can be hard
03:03to digest especially in the morning when your digestive fire is still waking up. Raw veggies can be consumed
03:10later in a day when the digestive fire is strong. Instead of raw, start your day with a warm cooked breakfast
03:18like a bowl of vegetable upma or serving of aloo sabji or mixed vegetable with billet roti. These are
03:26nourishing and easier to digest. So these are five foods which you should easily avoid for energizing and
03:35productive day. Remember starting your day with the right food sets the tone for balance and energetic day.
03:44Let me tell you two simple tips to keep in mind when it comes to food. Be mindful of what you eat and be
03:53mindful while eating. Pay attention to how different food makes you feel. Choose those foods that energize and
04:02nourish you and eat without distraction. Focus on your food. Chew thoroughly and enjoy your every bite. Namaskar
