00:00We are a nation of laws conceived and put in place for the public's sake, hence to craft better legislation, engaging broader people participation is wise.

00:10A proposed piece of legislation on crowdsourcing seeks greater citizens' participation is in the works as we hear more from our Mela Lesmoras.

00:21If you were to be asked what proposed law would you like to see enacted and effectuated in the Philippines?

00:27Para sa akin siguro yung mga transportation huwag nang tumaas. Kasi di ba nahihirapan dahil sa mga tabaho nila sana, tumaas din ang saon.

00:45Here at the House of Representatives, Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative Ellery Villafuerte is now pushing to introduce greater transparency, inclusivity and efficiency in the legislative process

00:57by establishing country's first ever crowdsourcing platform where Filipinos can propose new laws themselves to address their most pressing needs and concerns.

01:07This is True House Bill No. 303 or Crowdsourcing Bill.

01:11Under this proposal, an online platform will be established where people can submit their own proposed measures and once it gathers 300 verified signatures, it would be forwarded to the Congress for further action.

01:23For Villafuerte, this would be the best example of participatory democracy once enacted into law.

01:30Because in this way, lawmaking will become more inclusive and effective and also timely since many of our countrymen have deep knowledge and vast experience in various fields.

01:40Aside from this, other lawmakers also continue to file various bills and resolutions.

01:45For her part, House Deputy Minority Leader Bernadette Herrera is now calling for an immediate investigation into the collapse of a concrete column at the MRT construction site along West Avenue in Quezon City through her House Resolution No. 2262.

02:01Meanwhile, Agri-Portalist Representative Wilbert Lee is pushing for House Bill No. 11499,

02:06which aims to strengthen the Climate Change Act for even greater benefit to farmers and fisher folk.
