00:00Imagine a chainsaw selling for 16,000 pesos a pop or unit if directly bought.

00:05Now that's 80% off the retail or sticker cost, which is just too good to be true.

00:11So word quickly spread of the stash of hot merchandise that had DNR agents on their feet

00:16and seizing them in a raid in Valenzuela City that are Maribel Custodio details in this report.

00:23These are the hundred of boxes containing nearly 3.6 million pesos worth of counterfeit chainsaw.

00:29Seized during a bypass operation conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources

00:35and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or CIDG Camanaba in Barangay Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City yesterday.

00:43According to DNR, the 241 chainsaws were being sold and distributed illegally without the necessary permits.

00:51In an exclusive interview of PTV, DNR Assistant Secretary Norlito Erenan said that they received reports

00:59about the illegal operation from the Forest Management Bureau and DNR NCR.

01:03Mga middle of February, nagkaroon na tayo ng mga surveillance activities.

01:10Nahihirapan tayo kasi gated yung property, yung warehouse na ito.

01:15Kaya nagkaroon tayo ng mga different activities just to confirm na meron nga nagbibenta ng illegal na chainsaws in the area.

01:27Two Filipinos and one Chinese national were arrested during the operation.

01:32Ang isa rito is, although hindi siya nag-confirm kung ano yung nationality niya,

01:36but ang aming observation na isa siyang Chinese citizen,

01:42ang pangalan niya ay si Yuta Yang.

01:44Siya yung tumatay yung manager ng warehouse,

01:46si Angeliz Alunan,

01:49and yung pangatlo ay si Marvin San Andres.

01:51The illegal chainsaws were allegedly shipped from China.

01:55It was discovered that parts of the counterfeit chainsaws were being sold in an online shop for subtle transactions.

02:02The chainsaws were being sold for only 16,000 pesos per unit,

02:06more than five times cheaper than the over 18,000 pesos authentic price.

02:11Intelligence report na rin na mukhang may parating pa ng mga shipments dito sa warehouse na ito.

02:18Kaya yun ang aming biniverify na talagang medyo naging established na rin yung kalakaran dito.

02:25Kaya sinisikap namin na alamin lahat ng mga angulo rito.

02:29He added that there might be similar operations in other warehouses around Metro Manila.

02:35Suspect will face charges for violating Republic Act 9175 or the Chainsaw Act of 2002,

02:41and charges for unlawful importation.

02:45Alam nyo naman po, yung chainsaw,

02:47ito yung pangunahing instrumento or equipment sa pagpuputol ng ating mga puno.

02:53Kaya po, pinagbabawal at may kaakulang parusa po sa mga walang permit na chainsaw.
