00:00Hey guys, Andrew Salchunas here from 97.5 The Fanatic. Of course, you can catch me every day,
00:0510 to 2 on the Midday Show with my man, Anthony Gargano. But right now, I get to talk about
00:09something very near and dear in my heart, healthcare. You guys know that I have a wife
00:13that's in healthcare. So I'm really excited to be with Dr. Nicole Kuhar. This is awesome. Born
00:18and raised in Upper Township, New Jersey, just outside of Ocean City, place where our vacation
00:23allows the kids. So Dr. Kuhar, love that. She received her undergraduate degree from Marist
00:27College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and completed medical school at Virginia College of Osteopathic
00:32Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. Dr. Kuhar, she completed her family medicine residency
00:37training at Virtua 4E's Hospital. She chose family medicine because of the opportunity to build
00:42relationships with patients and the ability to see patients of all ages. She really enjoys
00:47chronic disease management and preventative medicine. I'm so excited to talk to you today.
00:51Doc, how are you? Hi, Andrew. Thanks for having me on today.
00:54Doc, I think something that's really important to know is having great, consistent primary care.
00:59It's important to help you stay healthy. What can we expect to see at a primary care doctor?
01:05Absolutely. So primary care physicians are extremely important because we kind of take a
01:09look at the whole patient. We'll screen you based on your family history and your individual risk
01:15factors so that we can make sure we're up to date on routine screenings as well as cancer screenings.
01:20At your family medicine office, they can offer you annual physical exams, mental health resources,
01:27discussions about diet and exercise, as well as chronic disease management for things like diabetes,
01:34high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression. And so we are able to also refer to specialists when
01:42needed. And ultimately, our goal is to keep our patients healthy and try to avoid unnecessary
01:47hospitalizations. So having routine follow-ups with your primary care physician is really important
01:53because it can help keep you out of the hospital and kind of up-to-date on all your routine screenings.
01:58Doc, I understand that it's very important to have a good relationship with a primary care doctor
02:02because you can feel more comfortable. What are some of the more important questions a patient can ask
02:06their doctor? Honestly, no questions off limits. Each encounter with your primary care doctor is
02:12individualized and unique for each patient. You can talk about things regarding skin issues,
02:19weight loss, fatigue, any acute concerns that you're having on any individual day.
02:24Sometimes it may take a few follow-up appointments or extra workup and lab work to kind of come up with
02:30what could be causing your concerns, but other things can be resolved on the spot.
02:35So it's really important to not be hesitant to bring up any concerns with your primary care physician.
02:39We like to view ourselves as kind of your first stop for any sort of health care
02:43questions or concerns you may have. A lot of people may say it's difficult to schedule something.
02:48How easy is it to schedule a visit with virtual primary care doctors?
02:52It's super easy. We have 24 primary care locations, which is very convenient for our patients.
02:58And we also offer online scheduling as well as online telemedicine appointments.
