00:00Participants in a race in Scotland were sent in the wrong direction after a prankster changed
00:15the direction signs.
00:16I love this.
00:17Another right!
00:19Another right!
00:21Another right!
00:22Everybody that way!
00:24Well, it says we'll go right!
00:25No, not there.
00:26That's when it says left.
00:30I love it. I love it.
00:32The organizer of the race said many racers were left with bitterness, anger, and disappointment
00:37after they were taken far off course.
00:41We ran to the sea.
00:43Where'd you do that?
00:44Keep going!
00:46You ran right into the water because of your signs!
00:49Where are we?
00:51I've got no idea.
00:52They say the pranksters endangered runners, taking them away from the safety of a marked
00:57and marshaled course and forced them further into the woods towards the road and away from
01:04any first aid or provisions they could have required.
01:08We've lost three runners that day.
01:10They realized when no one was passing the next station, something had gone wrong.
01:16Where are they?
01:17They're so slow.
01:18I think they've disappeared.
01:23What's happened to them?
01:24They've disappeared into the Highland Mast.
01:27They say they thought everything was clearly marked and they wouldn't have any issues, but
01:33one prankster ruined it for everyone.
01:35They're now offering a 50% discount to the racers affected for the next event they planned on.
01:42There you go.
01:42We'll give you a half off.
01:43Sorry if I lose it.
01:44You are pissed, right?
01:45Like, if you're, this is your thing, this is your thing.
01:48Because your time counts to you, you know?
01:51Yeah.
01:51I don't, like, sometimes that running in a group, I did, like, one run in a group when
01:55I was running, and it's like, and I was, like, pretty into running at that time, but
02:00these other people were so much more into running, and I didn't really know the route, and
02:04you can lose them.
02:05Oh, yeah.
02:06You're like, oh, my God.
02:08I'm like, this is terrible.
02:09What am I done?
02:10I'm, like, lost.
02:12I'm, like, in a neighborhood right now.
02:13Did you get lost?
02:14No, luckily, like, me and the other last person in the group kind of, like, we're
02:18like, we can still see them.
02:21We can still see them.
02:22They're up there.
02:23They're turning left.
02:24They're turning left.
02:25You know?
02:26We gotta hurry.
02:27It's like, I emerged, and I'm like, there's the zoo.
02:31I'm like, okay, I know where I am now.
02:35God.
02:35Yeah, no.
02:36I love to see you in a running group.
02:37Yeah, it was not for me.
02:38I'm more of a run by myself.
02:39No, because you, it took one time, right?
02:42And you were like, that's not.
02:43I hate this, yeah.
02:44I was like, I just run by myself.
02:45But even when I was running by myself, I had a Forrest Gump moment, because some guy
02:48got out of his van, and he goes, yo, man, I see you running.
02:51Can I run with you?
02:52What?
02:53I was like, no.
02:55No, I'm good.
02:55I run by, I run.
02:57Well, I said it real cool.
02:58I said, ah, I run alone.
03:00Really?
03:01You played him that cool?
03:02You played him that cool?
03:04No, I did, I ran alone, man.
03:05I swear to God, because I thought about it, I was like, wow, he's noticed me running around
03:08the block.
03:09What did he say when you said that?
03:11Did he?
03:11He was like, I get it, man.
03:12I was like, yeah.
03:14Well, here I go.
03:15That was the day I tried to run with the lone runner.
03:18He has that story.
03:19That guy has that story.
03:20He has it.
03:21No, man, I run alone.
03:22I got out of my car.
03:23I had to.
03:24I saw him running.
03:25He was the lone runner.
03:26He was a fat man with curly hair.
03:28I said, hey, hey, brother man, can I run with you?
03:32Please.
03:33Let me run with you.
03:34I run alone.
03:35It was the coolest goddamn thing I've ever heard in my life.
03:39It was the coolest moment of your life.
03:41It was pretty cool.
03:41I felt pretty good about it.
03:43I was like, yeah, and then I just ran the rest of the way, and I was like, yeah.
03:46Gave him an experience.
03:48Gave him a memory.
03:50The lone runner.
03:51It's odd though to stop and ask you to run with him, right?
03:53I didn't know what was happening, because he wasn't driving.
03:55It was like his mom or something was with him.
03:58His mom?
03:58Yeah, it was like his probably dude in his 30s.
04:01He just wanted to run with you?
04:02He wanted to run with somebody.
04:03You were just an inspiration for him.
04:05He saw me running, and was like, can I run with you?
04:08Then you turned him down.
04:09Because none of us are runners.
04:10No.
04:11So I wonder if that is common in the running community, where you'll just be like, I
04:15don't want to run alone.
04:16Hey, man, you mind if I run with you today?
04:17Yeah, maybe.
04:18Maybe it is.
04:18Like you're joining a force in the golf course or whatever.
04:20I don't know.
04:21I mean, the only reason I would see to run with somebody is
04:24if you fall and get hurt, break your arms or something.
04:29Yeah.
04:30But I didn't want to run with anybody, because I can't talk.
04:33That was another thing when I tried to run in the group.
04:34People would be like, hey, it's great.
04:36And you're talking, and you're like, I'm like, I can't talk.
04:38I'm like, this is horrible.
04:39It's not a social thing.
04:41Yeah, some people just run with such ease.
04:44Like it's no big deal to them.
04:44And you're supposed to be able to run and talk at the same time, right?
04:48Yeah, I think so.
04:49But you had to do that, that fat.
04:50Like I was doing like 12-minute miles, and I could do five of them.
04:54Yeah.
04:55And it was like I was not talking to anybody.
04:58No, I won't even talk on the treadmill.
04:59Amber will talk to me.
05:00I'll be like, shut up.
05:00Yeah, you can't.
05:01I got to focus.
05:02No, no, no, no.
05:03Yeah, it's crazy.
05:04Put the music on and run.
05:05But yeah, I did.
05:05I told that guy I'd run alone.
05:07I think, I know like when Patty was running marathons,
05:11she had like running partners that would like,
05:15and I think it's just, you're going to run for five hours.
05:18But would she ask, like she probably wouldn't ask a stranger,
05:20hey, can I run with you?
05:21No, I don't know.
05:21Well, the thing is, what I'm trying to figure out is,
05:25did they start as strangers?
05:27And it's very possible that they just met at like Stony Creek.
05:32In a running event.
05:32You know, just running on the.
05:34Usually you meet at marathons, right?
05:36Yeah, these people, like I think a lot of people meet where they're training.
05:41Yeah.
05:41You know, runners are speculating here what this was about.
05:44Someone said that is not a common thing for runners at all.
05:46Sounds like Andy almost got kidnapped.
05:48Oh, wow.
05:48It sounds kind of shady.
05:50I didn't feel any danger.
05:51I had ran the same way for like two years.
05:55So he's monitoring your route.
05:57So he probably saw me like, he's like,
05:59that fat guy's still running every day.
06:01Yeah, to me it's inspirational.
06:03Yeah, I didn't get a bad vibe from him.
06:04No, it wasn't like dangerous.
06:05Like I did feel dangerous, but I felt cool saying I run alone.
06:09Yeah.
06:09Someone said, what if he was special needs and his mom was trying to find him a run buddy?
06:13Well, oh, well, not for everybody, you know.
06:15He runs alone.
06:17You don't get me.
06:17I can't run with everybody who's special needs.
06:20I'm a special run buddy.
06:20Right.
06:21I run alone.
06:21You know, imagine that.
06:22I had a pack up.
06:25Come on, everybody.
06:27We're this way.
06:28Let's go.
06:30That's Chuck's special needs running group.
06:32Yeah.
06:32Yeah.
06:33He's doing a service.
06:34Come on.
06:36Oh, he lost another one.
06:38Chuck, look out.
06:39You lost another one.
06:40Oh, man.
06:41And if it was only 85, some great jokes, but we're going to put those to bed.
06:47It's not anymore.
06:47Come on.
06:4885.
06:49Let's run.
06:49Yeah, definitely not 85.
06:51Not anymore.
06:52Come on, you.
06:54Let's get moving.
06:55This guy said, I've ran my entire life.
06:57Never once have I had anyone come up and asked to run with me.
07:00So it's not a thing.
07:01I don't think that.
07:01That guy is just a rando.
07:03I don't know.
07:04Yeah, I didn't feel.
07:04Maybe he fancied you.
07:06Maybe.
07:06Maybe you were.
07:07I don't know.
07:08I don't think so.
07:09No.
07:09I didn't get that vibe that he knew who I was.
07:11Because he'd say, hey, Andy, can I run with you?
07:13And he was talking about how he wanted to lose some weight, and he saw me running.
07:17I think he's inspirational.
07:17I think I, like, truly.
07:19Maybe, you know, maybe I'm wrong, but.
07:21You ruined his life.
07:22Dude, there's that DDP yoga video that it'll make me ball.
07:26There's one with, like, a guy.
07:29He was, like, a paratrooper, and he couldn't move.
07:31And then he started doing this stuff, and then he can run now.
07:34Yeah, it's crazy.
07:35If I watch that video, I'm, like, and it's very inspirational.
07:39That's what made me, like, I went and got the stuff.
07:41I was, like, I put it in, and I was, like, oh, this is going to kill me if I try it.
07:44Yeah.
07:45I can't do this.
07:45I felt like Forrest Gump if he would have been, like, go away.
07:49To all those people.
07:51Yeah.
07:52I run alone.
07:53I run alone.
07:55John's with us in Florida, joining us on the Dave and Chuck lines.
07:58Hi, John.
07:59Hey, good morning, everybody.
08:01Got a good story about why people should be in packs, at least while riding their bikes.
08:07I used to count timber for a log sales guy, and I was walking through the woods one time
08:14and saw a guy laying in the sand on his mountain bike, and, you know, he's waving over at me.
08:19So, at first, I just waved back at him, like, yeah, what's up?
08:22And then he's, like, flagging me down, screaming help.
08:25He had fallen off his bike, broke his clavicle or something.
08:30So, I had to go pick the guy up, carry him out of the woods, take him back in my state
08:36Forrester truck to, like, his house, and then he made me go back and get his bicycle.
08:41Oh, wow.
08:41Well, that's a little munch.
08:42I'll let you heal up.
08:43Hey, relax.
08:44Excuse me, logman.
08:45Hello, I'm so glad to see you.
08:47Oh, no.
08:48A cyclist.
08:49I've broken my clavicle.
08:50Are you a cyclist?
08:53I am.
08:53I'm stuck in the sand.
08:55I've broken several bones.
08:56Oh, Jesus Christ.
08:57I'm glad to see a car.
08:58Please lift me to safety.
09:00I'm sorry, I don't help cyclists.
09:03No, that was one of the reasons I stopped running, because one day I took, like, a nasty fall.
09:08I was going real fast, and I, like, landed on both my arms, and it scared me, because I
09:15was, like, if I was five miles away from my house, and I broke both my arms, and I was
09:20like, oh, trying to run back home.
09:24You're lucky you didn't break your ball.
09:25Five miles running like that?
09:28They're just jello arms.
09:30They're all broken?
09:31Like, what do you do?
09:32Can't call anybody?
09:33You're crying and running?
09:34They snapped.
09:35Oh, that'd be bad.
09:36Real bad.
09:37It shook me up.
09:38It was like, it made me...
09:39Yeah, but if you had that running buddy, he would have called for you.
09:41That's true.
09:42You'd have helped.
09:43But I run alone.
09:44But you run alone.
09:45It's a risk he's willing to take.
09:47Yeah, that's right.
09:48But yeah, that sidewalk hit me all the way down.
09:50It was scary.
09:51Oh, my God.
09:51It was a bad one.
