Charles Davis believes the Commanders could draft this player at No. 29 in the NFL Draft.
Transcript
00:00Charles, in your latest mock draft for NFL.com,
00:03you have the commanders taking Kelvin Banks Jr. tackle out of Texas.
00:07But in your comment, you write,
00:10Benjamin Morrison is your favorite corner in this draft.
00:14Now, I think Morrison is projected to go Friday night.
00:18This is a dude that I think dealt with injuries last year.
00:22But B, as a freshman, as a freshman three years ago,
00:28he had six picks.
00:30What do you like about Morrison?
00:31What do you like about him maybe Friday?
00:34You know, it's funny you brought that up.
00:36And for me, I'd written in my notes the word comfortable.
00:41Because everything I watched on tape, that's the word that came to mind.
00:45Whether he was impressed, whether he was off, whether he was in zone,
00:48whether he was a man, whether he was blitzing off the edge of the cat corner,
00:52whether he was coming up to tackle, comfortable.
00:55He looked fine in everything he was doing.
00:58I do believe that Friday is probably more likely because of the injuries.
01:02Like, he's had hip issues.
01:04So, I think he's had both hips done.
01:06That sort of deal.
01:07That took some time away.
01:09His medical recheck came back really good right before the draft.
01:12You know he had his own private workout on Monday,
01:14and I was told that went really well for him.
01:16But it's deep into the process.
01:19So, you wonder if people are going to want to take that shot at him.
01:22Because I do think healthy all the way through,
01:24we're talking about him with Will Johnson, Jaday Barron, Trey Amos,
01:29all the corners that I expect to go tonight.
01:32But to me, I love Benjamin Morrison.
01:34And Banks, I'm just going to tell you this, guys.
01:36I've got him down there.
01:38I've got a few people that I think are really smart in this
01:40that have called me and said,
01:41Dude, too low.
01:43You've got him too low.
01:44He's not going to be around there.
01:46Wow.
01:46That's the call.
01:47I've got multiple calls.
01:49Well, there's questions about the tackle depth here, right?
01:52So, I can see Banks going.
01:54Yeah.
01:54You can see him going.
01:55And here's the thing.
01:56When you watch these guys play,
01:58you guys remember when it all started,
02:00what did we talk about with him, right?
02:03Campbell from LSU was arm length, hand size.
02:07Can they do this?
02:08Can they do that?
02:09We've had examples all the way through of it working and not working.
02:13I think for Campbell and Banks,
02:16they're both going to be left tackles until proved differently.
02:19All right?
02:20I don't care about the arm length at all.
02:21Rashawn Slater had the same concern.
02:23That's the exact guy I think about every time I hear.
02:26Right?
02:26Yeah.
02:26He's living just fine with the Chargers.
02:28Now, the interesting thing is,
02:30the guy that succeeded Rashawn Slater at Northwestern was Peter Skorowski.
02:35And as soon as he was drafted, the Titans moved him to guard.
02:38So, it's all a matter of how you look at it.
02:40And by the way, he's staying at guard.
02:42He's not moving back out.
02:43It's all a matter of how you look at it, what you think is going to work.
02:47And in today's ball, I take him.
02:49I play him there until I believe he can't play anymore.
02:51And then I move him into guard if I have to.
02:53But I've still got a really good lineman.
02:55We don't have the same stigma that if you draft a left tackle and it doesn't hit,
02:59then he's an absolute bust.
03:01Robert Gallery went through that.
03:03Remember that?
03:03When he was number two over at the back of Iowa?
03:05And it didn't work well at left tackle.
03:07They moved him to guard.
03:08He played really well for double-digit years in the league.
03:11And everybody still says, oh, he was such a bust.
03:13No, he wasn't a bust.
03:14He was a good player.
03:15But he didn't make it at left tackle.
03:17So, that made him a bust in their eyes.
