13:31The United Nations Organization for Palestine Refugees denounces almost 500,000 Palestinians forcibly displaced since the resumption of the Israeli genocide against Gaza.
13:41The international organization warned that refugee camps report overcrowding in unstable living conditions due to the lack of supply of basic services.
13:49The agency also indicated that the humanitarian crisis in the enclave is at its worst since October 23, describing shelters as insecure and barely habitable.
13:59The Sudanese blockade on the border is causing a rapid depletion of essential humanitarian supplies such as food, medicine and fuel.
14:13In Palestine, the Al-Durra Children's Hospital was severely damaged following the recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the suspension of its operations.
14:23The bombing damaged the intensive care unit and alternative energy systems running the medical center out of service.
14:29This closure brings to 37 the number of hospitals out of service since the beginning of the offensive on October 7, 2023.
14:36The Palestinian Civil Defense reported the rescue of several wounded and stressed that many people remained trapped under the rubble of the Mohammed Al-Durra Children's Hospital.
14:45On the other hand, in the south, Israeli forces demolished several houses in Rafa and the Hanjunis and Al-Maghazi refugee camps were also attacked.
14:54And in Sudan, several units linked to the Parliamentary Group Rapid Support Forces prevented the remaining inhabitants of the Sam Sam Displaced Camp from leaving after occupying it last week.
15:10According to a statement issued by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the fighting has caused nearly 400,000 people sheltering in Sam Sam to be evicted.
15:20Violent clashes between the Sudan Armed Forces and the Parliamentary Rapid Support Forces have escalated dramatically in northern Darfur state, with Al-Fashir and Sam Sam IDP camp as the epicenter.
15:32Between the 10th and 22nd of April, the surrounding area of Al-Fashir and Sam Sam Sam suffered constant ulterior shelling, drone and ground attacks, resulting in the death of hundreds of civilians.
15:42And on Friday, a small police plane crashed into the sea near a popular bridge town in Thailand, killing five people on board.
15:54The plane was being used for a weather reconnaissance mission prior to a parachute training exercise and crashed in the area between Sha'am and Huanghin districts approximately 100 meters from the shore.
16:05It crashed around 8 a.m. local time, according to the Royal Thai Police spokesperson.
16:10There were six people on board, all police officers, one remains in the hospital in critical condition but alive.
16:15The cause of the crash is not yet known.
16:17And on the occasion of World Book Day, several countries carried out various activities to encourage more reading among the population.
16:37Among those countries was Chile, where each person was given a book by Pablo Neruda, free of charge. Let's see more about this action.
16:43Free Books is the name of the initiative carried out every year by the University of Chile for World Book Day, whose objective is to distribute various texts to students, neighbors and passerbys in the capital and other localities.
17:03On this occasion, the selected work was Twenty Love Poems and a Desperate Song by Pablo Neruda, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literal Culture, which will celebrate its 101st publication anniversary this coming June.
17:19This activity was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage and the Pablo Neruda Foundation.
17:26It is also the possibility of a reflective encounter with each one of us with our own thoughts.
17:36Then we believe that to have a critical society that knows how to listen to the other, that knows how to dialogue, we need to be a community capable of rediscovering books and that is why we do this.
17:53In order to invite our neighbors in Santiago to get in touch with the book.
18:0015,000 copies were co-published for this activity and were handed out simultaneously at the Central University House and in Neruda's Museum House in other cities.
18:12The idea is to make young people feel more attracted to books in a current context in which social networks and digital reading has been displaced in the physical works.
18:23I found this activity very incredible. In fact, I went because this book was the first one I was given when I won a poetry contest when I was in elementary school.
18:36So it is very nice to have it in my hands again, even if it is like this. It is very nice.
18:41It is a good activity to attract people to read and that they can read more in a way that is free so they can see if they like the author's book, for example, and they can buy it if they like it.
18:54During the development of the free books initiative, there was also an incentive to follow the works of other Chilean writers.
19:03On the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Nobel Prize, the Fligeror awarded to the poet Gabriela Mistral, who was the first Ibero-American woman and the second person from a region to receive this distinction.
