00:28The Venezuelan government announces planning for the first Bolivarian Shield 2025 exercises
00:33aimed at warrantying peace and democracy.
00:42Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:47We begin with the news, stay with us.
00:58On Monday, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States amidst
01:08growing concerns regarding his state policies.
01:11Unlike his first term, Republicans assume unified control of Washington and set out
01:17to reshape the country's institutions.
01:19Trump will act swiftly after the ceremony, with executive orders already prepared for
01:24his signature to clamp down on border crossing, increased fossil fuel development, and diversity
01:32and inclusion programs across the federal government.
01:35The executive orders are the first step in what Trump calls the complete restoration
01:40of the country and the revolution of common sense.
01:48The golden age of America begins right now.
02:00From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world.
02:07We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage
02:12of any longer.
02:15During every single day of the Trump administration, I will very simply put America first.
02:31President Donald Trump declared that his return to power is a rejection of the radical and
02:35corrupt establishment he claims defined Joe Biden's presidency.
02:43A tide of change is sweeping the country, sunlight is pouring over the entire world,
02:49and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before.
02:55But first we must be honest about the challenges we face.
02:59While they are plentiful, they will be annihilated by this great momentum that the world is now
03:04witnessing in the United States of America.
03:08As we gather today, our government confronts a crisis of trust.
03:13For many years, a radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens
03:19while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair.
03:32The U.S. president also said his administration would deport millions of illegal migrants
03:37back to their country of origin.
03:40I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear.
03:43All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning
03:50millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.
04:03Pope Francis called President-elect Donald Trump's plan for mass deportations of illegal
04:08migrants from the United States shameful.
04:11No, we have not spoken.
04:18He came here once when he was president the other time, but we did not hear each other.
04:23But if true, this will be a disgrace, because it makes the poor wretches who have nothing
04:28pay the bill for the imbalance.
04:31This won't do.
04:33This is not the way to solve things.
04:36That's not how things are resolved.
04:43Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Bakay said Iran hopes the incoming U.S. administration
04:49under Donald Trump adopts a realistic approach and show respect for international law.
04:59We hope that the approaches and policies of the new U.S. government will be realistic
05:09and based on international law and respect for the interests and desires of the nations
05:16of the region, including the Iranian nation.
05:28Before the inauguration of the new U.S. President Donald Trump, dozens of senior State Department
05:33officials handed in their resignation.
05:36As of noon local time in Washington, D.C., senior officials resigned after being instructed
05:41by the president's advisers to leave their offices.
05:45According to the officials, the administration wants to go back to working with the people
05:49it has worked with before.
05:52Among those who resigned are John Bass, acting Undersecretary of State for Management and
05:57Political Affairs, and Geoffrey Pyatt, Undersecretary of State for Energy Resources.
06:06Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said he hoped the United States would remain
06:12a historical partner of his country after Donald Trump's return to the White House on
06:16Monday.
06:20There are people who say that Trump's election could cause problems for world democracy.
06:25Trump was elected to govern the United States and I, as President of Brazil, hope that he
06:29has a successful administration, that the U.S. people improve, and that the U.S. continue
06:35to be the historical partner of Brazil.
06:37On our side, we don't want any fights with Venezuela, with the U.S., with China, with
06:42India or with Russia.
06:45What we want is peace.
07:11Welcome back to From the South.
07:12And as we inform on our first segment, on Monday Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th
07:18President of the United States.
07:19And in this context, we contact our Special Envoy to Washington, D.C., Carlos Montero.
07:24Hi, Carlos.
07:25What can you share with us at this hour?
07:28At this hour, we are processing what Trump said after swearing to be the 47th President
07:36of this country.
07:37There were so many things he said, so many things that they are impossible to do, that,
07:42I mean, there are different reactions.
07:44He talks after swearing in, he talked about Panama, that the canal is going to go back
07:52to USA, something is absolutely impossible.
07:56The President of Panama already said, you know, that's not going to happen.
08:00He talked about immigration, something he said a lot during the campaign about deportation,
08:06and it's scaring a lot of people here in the capital and in the whole country.
08:12Let's see what happens tomorrow.
08:13Maybe in Chicago they are going to start massive deportation.
08:17He talked about the situation in the border.
08:21He's going to declare emergency, something he's already active.
08:25There is an application that people who want to apply to come to this country legally,
08:32they can ask for an appointment in this application.
08:37The application is discontinued at this moment, so a lot of people are upset for that, because
08:41if they want to come here legally, that application was something that was helping them a lot.
08:48Now they cannot do it.
08:49So it's really something, maybe they are going to try to come illegally, you don't know,
08:54to cross the border.
08:56He's going to send more militaries to the border.
08:59He talked about Mars.
09:01He said that the American flag is going to be on Mars.
09:05Elon Musk, one of his faithful helpers since he won the election, he was really happy.
09:13He was in the Congress with also Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, was there.
09:20Che Pesso, the owner of Amazon, was there.
09:23Also, there were not many people because it was done in a small place.
09:27Due to the weather, it's very cold.
09:29The idea was to do it outside, but they have to do it in the rotunda of the Congress, a
09:35place that no more than two, three hundred people, they were allowed.
09:39But the people who want to see Donald Trump here in the Capitol, they were expecting two
09:43hundred thousand people, I'm sure much less came when they found out on Friday that he's
09:49going to be inside the ceremony and all the traditional parade and festivities.
09:55But all those people, they are in a stadium, a stadium that's really close to where we
09:59are, a few blocks.
10:01There's a lot of security there.
10:03It's called the Capital One Arena is where the basketball team, the men's and women's
10:09WNBA, NBA, they play there.
10:11The Wizards of Washington has a capacity for 20,000 people.
10:16They are there right now.
10:17And Donald Trump, after signing those executive orders, he said they're going to be around
10:22one hundred.
10:23He's in the White House right now and he's going to go there.
10:27Over there, there are a lot of people waiting.
10:29They want to celebrate the presidency, the comeback of Donald Trump.
10:35During the whole afternoon, there were different groups, different celebrities talking to the
10:40crowd.
10:41Some of them, they spent the whole night outside, even extremely cold.
10:46It was minus 10 degrees Celsius in the middle of the night, but they were camping outside.
10:51So today, this morning, when they opened the doors, they were the first one to get in.
10:56And there was a big scream and they can watch the ceremony in the Congress in that place.
11:02Trump is going to be there and he's going to talk to them.
11:04And we are going to pay attention to what he has to say.
11:08But we are already still processing all those announcements he did today in his first speech
11:14as president of the USA.
11:16I'm going back to you, to the studio.
11:19Thanks for all the information.
11:23We were speaking to our special envoy, Carlos Montero, in the framework of the swearing-in
11:28ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump.
11:31Now let's move on to other information.
11:34Gaza experienced its first night in peace after 15 months of a genocidal operation that
11:57daily bombed the Palestinian enclave.
12:00Palestinian organizations estimated an average of 846 daily attacks against the Strip.
12:06Seven months ago, an investigation by the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights
12:11calculated that about 70,000 tons of bombs had been dropped by the Israeli occupation,
12:17a figure that even then exceeded the bombings of the Second World War.
12:22The United Nations reported that six out of ten buildings have been destroyed.
12:26This Sunday night, not a single bomb fell in Gaza for the first time after more than
12:3147,000 deaths.
12:38At least 200 trucks with humanitarian aid entered Gaza from Egypt on Monday, bringing
12:44the total to 830.
12:47Tension reigns in the Strip.
12:48Earlier on Monday, a powerful explosion in the northern West Bank killed an Israeli reservist
12:54and wounded two others.
12:56Occupation forces said that the explosion occurred when the patrol vehicle was passing
13:00by.
13:01The government of the Strip has also reported incidents in Kanjanese, where the Israeli
13:06troops are said to have fired several shots.
13:19The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs reports that 92 percent of homes in
13:24the Gaza Strip have been destroyed by U.S. bombs sent to Israel.
13:28World Health Organization representative in Palestine, Rick Peppercorn, says that after
13:34the hopeful ceasefire, a huge challenge lies ahead.
13:37The health system in Gaza is virtually destroyed, as are the 436,000 homes that are reduced
13:44to rubble or are uninhabitable.
13:46Meanwhile, Palestinians who have returned to their neighborhoods are trying to recover
13:50the bodies of their loved ones, who still remain under the rubble.
14:02Israeli occupation forces have striken hundreds of buildings in southern Lebanon, violating
14:06the ceasefire agreement enforced since November 27, 2024.
14:11The review of satellite data, open source images and interviews with United Nations
14:16special envoys, unfolded the Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
14:21The continuous aggressions towards the Lebanese people, even after the implementation of the
14:26agreement, have generated uncertainty about the reliability of the deal, which would end
14:32its initial 60-day term on January 26, 2025.
14:36Subsequently, the resistance Lebanese movement has counter-attacked Israeli military sites.
14:42In addition, Hezbollah insisted on the repeated Israeli violations of the agreement.
14:53On Monday, attacks attributed to the rapid support forces of Darfur and northern Sudan
14:58killed at least 22 people and wounded 20 others.
15:02Security Ministry Director General Ibrahim Jarrah said these latest bombings have affected
15:07the towns of Umm Kaddada and other nearby villages.
15:11Moreover, the Yezida Conference, a Sudanese civil society group, said six civilians were
15:17killed and three others kidnapped, including a doctor, in attacks by the rapid support
15:21forces in the state.

19:01In Ecuador, 16 nominees for the 2025 presidential election participated Sunday in the first
19:06debate in which they made their proposals to face domestic challenges and crisis.
19:11Gallup polls had revealed that candidate Luisa González, a follower of former President
19:17Rafael Correa, leads the voting intention with 40%, while President of Ecuador and contender
19:24Daniel Novoa comes next with 33%.
19:27Therefore, estimates indicate the 14 others on the race do not have much chances to win
19:32elections.
19:33Nonetheless, all of them made their proposals on main concerning issues of security, public
19:38services and economy in a 90-second keynote address on the debate split into two sessions
19:45of eight nominees.
19:49Today we have seen how the new Ecuador continues to triumph against that old Ecuador.
19:55That old Ecuador that only seeks to slander, that only seeks to delay our success and our
19:59growth.
20:00Let us not see our families bleeding, migrating, not having a job, going hungry, enough of
20:08so much fighting and confrontation.
20:11Here we are with serious ideas and proposals.
20:19Cuban Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila announced having initiated
20:24a pilot project to contribute to medical attention in Havana.
20:28The minister detailed that the plan is performed in coordination with the Ministry of Public
20:32Health and the Government of Havana.

20:45This project is part of one of the agreements signed at the past International Transport
