00:00A sort of rumor campaign by the political opposition about an alleged plan to postpone

00:05the August national elections led the Supreme Electoral Tribunal to repeat its commitment

00:09that the elections will be held on the scheduled date.

00:16The Supreme Electoral Court has a firm time, and again, that the general elections scheduled

00:22for this administration will be held on August 17 of this year.

00:33The rumor was based on what happened in last year's judicial elections when the elections

00:36were torpedoed by the constitutional court, which not only postponed them, but also, in

00:41the face of several lawsuits, authorized them to be held partially.

00:51We, the magistrates of the constitutional court, give our faith, we give our commitment,

00:55and we give certainty to the Bolivian people for the realization of this electoral process,

01:05for the fulfillment of this electoral process, and to process the appeals with celerity,

01:09and without the processing of these appeals meaning the postponement, or slowing down of

01:13the election of August 17 of this year.

01:20Analyst Susana Bejarano described as shameful that a state power such as the electoral tribunal

01:26asks the judiciary not to interfere, but the commitments of both give back certainty.

01:36It's already a common sense in society that the elections are going to be held, and if

01:40they were not held, it would be like lighting the fuse to a gunpowder that is already spread

01:43in the country, because as you know, the fact that there's been a lack of fuel, the inflation

01:53we are experiencing after two decades and all these situations have generated, whether you

01:57like it or not, a tension in the population.

02:03It is the opposition sectors themselves, who spread rumors about an alleged attempt by the

02:09government to extend the deadline for the elections, who encourage uncertainty by filing lawsuits

02:14before the judiciary that could affect the date of the elections.

02:17If you make a review of who are the people in the framework of those five rulings that have

02:25put that question, you are going to see elections, they are going to be suspended because now there

02:29are some rulings.

02:30Four of them are people who belong to the opposition bloc, to the anti-movement for socialism bloc.

02:34Although they are dressed as indigenous people, they have been systematically against the movement

02:38for socialism.

02:39The national elections have been officially called for next August 17th.

02:52The electoral calendar is already smooth and determines that whoever wins these elections

02:55will take office at the beginning of November of this year.

02:59The registration of candidates will take place in mid-May.
