00:00But Alcatraz is quite a small prison by modern prison standards.
00:05I mean, when it was last operational, it had space for about 330 detainees.
00:11I mean, that's just the tip of an enormous iceberg, isn't it?
00:16It is.
00:17And I think the administration, I don't speak for them, but from what I've heard, they're
00:20considering a number of different facilities to house some of the most violent offenders.
00:25Alcatraz is one of them.
00:26Obviously, like you said, only houses a small portion around 300.
00:30They're looking at Gitmo.
00:31They're looking at other facilities where we can send these individuals.
00:34And again, you consider at least the folks that are coming in here illegally and committing
00:37crimes, being let back out on the street, you know, sending them a message.
00:42Do you want to go back to your home country, which the administration is really trying to
00:45help facilitate?
00:47Or do you want to go to one of these prisons where you'll really be cut off from society?
00:50And again, Alcatraz, with the history that it's had, been in a lot of movies, people know
00:55that is a place that you don't want to go because nobody on record has ever escaped from
01:00there.
01:00Many people have been shot and killed.
01:02Those that have tried to escape, some have disappeared.
01:04So again, it's sending a message to these people.
01:07We're not going to tolerate this anymore.
01:08And if anybody can make it happen to reopen this facility, it is President Trump.
