Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by two wickets in IPL 2025 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 7. This was just the third win for CSK in IPL 2025 while defending champions KKR's pursuit of a spot in the playoffs took a massive hit. Batting first, KKR scored 179/6. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was the top-scorer for his side with 48 runs off 33 deliveries, while there were contributions from Manish Pandey (36) and Andre Russell (38). For CSK, Noor Ahmad was the star performer with a four-wicket haul (4/31) while Anshul Kamboj (1/38) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/34) were the other wicket-takers. In response, CSK lost five wickets inside the powerplay, being reduced to 60/5 at one stage. But a 67-run partnership between Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis changed the game for CSK. Dewald Brevis smashed a 25-ball 52, an innings that included four fours and as many sixes, while Shivam Dube contributed with 45 runs off 40 deliveries. MS Dhoni (17*) struck a six in the final over and Anshul Kamboj (4*) hit the winning runs as CSK won the contest in 19.4 overs.
