Mary Spender is a 20 year old singer/songwriter originally from Salisbury, Wiltshire. Influenced by a diverse range of music, Mary's style of song writing and her singing voice have been compared to the likes of KT Tunstall, Debbie Harry, Tracy Chapman and Kate Bush, and her guitar skills have been compared to the likes of John Mayer and Joni Mitchell.

Mary has recorded with producer Gareth Henderson (HL Studios/River Studios, Southampton) and Geoff Swan (Swanton Bomb Productions/The Ranch Production House). All tracks are (or soon to be) available on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and Spotify.

Mary plays most shows with her bassist (Ben Whatsley) and drummer (James Gilbert). Over the past year Mary has played with her band or acoustically over 150 concerts. Just before Mary started reading Music at Bristol University in September 09 she finished her gap year touring in America playing gigs in Los Angeles and New York, and has recently returned from an appearance at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010.

Mary is always keen to collaborate with other artists and has already recorded with The Cavaliers and Rob Johnson and co-written with Jose Vanders. She has appeared on many radio shows for BBC 6 Music, BBC Wiltshire, AndoverSound, ForestFM (Mary was their Breakthrough Artist of the Month - Jan '09), Spire FM and recorded live acoustic sets for most of these stations and also been interviewed by Athens International Radio (Greece).

Mary Spender's 'Dear John and Denmark Street' (2010 - released 11.09.10), 'Mirrors EP' (2009) and 'Melancholy Parade EP' (2008) are available on all iTunes music stores, Amazon Mp3 and Spotify.
