A recent study describes the discovery of seven new snail species, one of which is considered to be the smallest known microsnail shell ever found, with nearly 10 of them able to fit into the eye of a needle.

The smallest known land-based snail according to shell size has recently been found in China.

The most minute of seven newly identified snail species,  Angustopila dominikae, measures just 0.86 mm in shell length. 

And with a shell height of under a millimeter, nearly ten of them could fit in the eye of a sewing needle.
