Mexico City Declared “Friendly to LGBTTTI Communities”

Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera presided over the marriages of 51 same-sex couples on Sunday in a local event declaring the capital city friendly to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, transvestite, transgender and intersexual communities. Last June the Supreme Court ruled that laws preventing gay marriage are unconstitutional. Even so, gay marriage is still prohibited in 29 of Mexico’s 31 states, and until their statutes are changed, couples must petition the courts case by case. teleSUR
