Millionaire Bars offer layer upon layer of decadent goodness with a shortbread layer on the bottom, a caramel layer in the middle and chocolate on top! Ingredients
Base
160 gms or 1 cup Maida
45 gms or 1/2 cup dessicated coconut
100 gms or 1/2 cup butter
80gms or 1/2 cup minus 1 tbsp sugar
Filling
60gms or 1/4th cup butter
600 gms or 1 can condensed milk
3 tbsp golden syrup or honey
Topping
170gms or 1 1/2 cups chopped Dark chocolate
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Method
- For the base, in a bowl mix maida, dessicated coconut, melted butter and brown sugar. Mix it well.
- In a baking pan, place parchment paper and evenly spread the base mixture.
- Prick it lightly on the top.
- At 108 degree, bake it for 15 to 20 minutes.
- For the filling, in a sauce pan heat condensed milk, butter and golden syrup.
- Cook this mixture till it thickens. It will roughly take 8 to 10 minutes.
- Pour this caramel mixture over the base and bake it at 180 degree for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Allow it to cool at room temperature and keep it in refrigerator for 45 minutes.
- In a double boiler, melt the dark chocolate by adding vegetable oil to give that extra shine to the chocolate.
- Pour the melted dark chocolate over the cooled caramel layer.
- Refrigerate it for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Once it is out of the fridge, cut it in to pieces.
- Delicious Caramel Slice is ready!
