Lauki Chana Dal is a healthy curry recipe made with bottle gourd and bengal gram. It is a main course dish and has both vegetables and lentil making it a wholesome meal. This Lauki Chana Dal is an easy and quick recipe and goes very well with rotis and phulkas. Do try this high protein meal at home and share your experience with us.

Ingredients-
500g bottle gourd or lauki
1 cup soaked chana dal
1 tomato, roughly chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp asafoetida
2 round boria chillies
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves
Water
curry leaves

Method
In a pressure cooker heat some oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/4 tsp asafoetida, 2 round boria chillies, curry leaves, 500 gms chopped bottle gourd or lauki and mix it nicely.

Add 1 cup soaked chana dal, 1 roughly chopped tomato, mix it well.

Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander and cumin seed powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, salt as required, some coriander leaves and give it a mix.

Add 1½ cup water, cover it with the lid and cook for 1 whistle on high flame and 3 whistles on low flame.

Add some coriander leaves and serve it with hot rotis.
