Samara Meija Hernandez On How She Became One of The Few Female Venture Capitalists

Samara Meija Hernandez is a venture capitalist and investor in Chicago. She is one of the few Latinas in the city and nation. Her career in finance began as result of English not being her first language. She excelled in math, where numbers are universal. Samara credits mentors at Goldman Sachs for helping her get ahead and instill confidence in her. Late last year Samara wrote an op-ed on "Why your boss is still a white guy." The piece went viral and sparked a desire for her to speak out the issue in the larger context of what diversity means and why it's needed. Here she shares advice to entrepreneurs and others who want to follow her career path.
