The prosecution in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial has raised a flag over Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s social media post on former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, which it said was an “attack” on its witness.
Lead prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram raised the issue at the High Court on Tuesday (Jan 5), saying that Najib deliberately attacked Zeti and pointed out that the accused knew the former governor would be called to testify as per a witness list that was made available to the defence last year.
Earlier, Najib’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah asked the court for Najib to be excused from attending tomorrow’s trial to allow the Pekan MP to visit his constituency, which is severely affected by the flood but the court did not allow the application.
