The Man Standing Out There (Poem with Music)

Lyrics:

The Man Standing Out There

Everything inside was modern and sleek
The office worker got mad when he dared to peek
The only establishment for him is dim and underlit
The ice out there has him feeling frostbit
She’s sitting at the controls of the cockpit
No amount of money’d ever make her quit

What has the man standing out there seen
He’s out there everyday doing nothing mean
He’s probably seen us at our worst
While he’s acting at his absolute best

He’s got a shirt that announces his politics
He leans over the table of the dude getting his kicks
His boss tells him to cover it all up
He laughs and takes a swig from the drinking cup
He can take more than just a measly write up
He’s got nowhere else to go so leans forward again

What has the man standing out there seen
He’s out there everyday doing nothing mean
He’s probably seen us at our worst
While he’s acting at his absolute best

He wanted to take control of a motorbike
I take it off the ramp all suicidal like
It was the picture of what he thought was a man
In olden times they’d put his head on a spike
But these days he rides a scooter childlike
To make it day by day he’s doing what he can
Which at the moment is just trying to keep up his lifespan
Everyone around him just does a quick driveby

What has the man standing out there seen
He’s out there everyday doing nothing mean
He’s probably seen us at our worst
While he’s acting at his absolute best

Scraping in the king we trust off the coins
No one is doing anything properly who joins
He dribbles in the dirt and the scales come off
Wearing his shoes just like Khruschev
All the neighborhood drives by to scoff
Doesn’t he have any goals to go accomplish

What has the man standing out there seen
He’s out there everyday doing nothing mean
He’s probably seen us at our worst
While he’s acting at his absolute best
