00:00 Hi, this is Lauren and today I'm going to teach you how to do a perfect winged liner.
00:05 So there's a couple of different ways to do a perfect winged liner.
00:10 Some ways are easier than other ones and some take a little bit more skill.
00:16 So if you are a beginner in doing winged liner, I'll show you a really easy way to do that.
00:21 And if you are just going to try to freehand it, then I'll show you a technique for doing
00:27 that as well.
00:28 So for my winged liner, I'm going to be using MAC Black Track.
00:34 It comes in this little pot here.
00:36 And I'm actually just using this brush that I got from a craft store.
00:42 It was about $4 and it's really kind of angled, pointy, and perfect for doing winged liner.
00:51 A lot of makeup counters or makeup stores will sell these kind of brushes and they'll
00:59 be like $15, $20 or something like that when you can just get one from a Michaels or Joann's
01:07 or something like that and it'll be a lot cheaper.
01:12 And also you can get one from Michaels using a coupon too.
01:16 So that's what I did with this one.
01:17 So I think I ended up paying like $2 for it and it's lasted me a really long time.
01:23 Especially because these little fine brushes are, you need to replace them a lot because
01:30 they get a little bit messed up and they can mess up your perfect winged liner.
01:35 So I'm putting a very thin coat on this right here, just kind of on the tip, making sure
01:40 that there's no clumps, kind of using the edge of the bottle to sort of flatten it out
01:47 and make sure that there's not any clumps.
01:51 And for this I'm going to kind of pull my eye like this, just a little bit, you don't
01:55 want to pull too much.
01:57 And I'm going to start in the center here as close as I possibly can to my eye line.
02:09 Just starting very small.
02:12 Even if you don't want it really small, just start off very small.
02:20 Because there will be little bumps and everything that you will have to fix along your second
02:26 pass.
02:29 And you will probably have to go back and get a little bit more eyeliner, but you really
02:33 just want to make sure that you don't have too much on there.
02:35 It's better to go back and get more than to mess up and get it clumpy on your eyeshadow.
02:43 So for the tip, I'm going to make a little mark right here and then come down from that.
02:59 And then I'm going to kind of come out to the side from that little point that I've
03:07 made.
03:11 And kind of carry it along my second pass of the eyeliner.
03:19 Just kind of going back and forth, just really perfecting that line.
03:26 The first time you do it, it won't look perfect.
03:29 So just make sure you get that really nice point.
03:37 And don't go too big on the first pass.
03:42 If I can stress anything enough that that is the most important thing.
03:50 Because it leaves room for error and it leaves room for improvement if you start small.
04:00 So that's a way to do it sort of freehand.
04:04 Is just to start very small and close to the lash line.
04:07 Kind of make yourself a little bit of a reference mark right here and kind of follow that in
04:13 and down to make a perfectly shaped eyeliner for your eyes.
04:19 And a way to do this, sort of the cheating way, which I use a lot if I'm in a hurry,
04:27 it's basically the same way except different to make the actual point of the eyeliner.
04:35 So I'm going to put the same amount of eyeliner on my brush and go through the same motion
04:40 staying very close to the lash line and sort of just making a really smooth line.
05:01 And that's it.
05:21 For this one I'm kind of just going out and just trying to make the best point I can make.
05:43 And maybe you'll get lucky sometimes.
05:45 You know, this method is kind of a good way to just practice and see what you can do freehand
05:53 first.
05:55 And then if you end up not making a good wing or something like that, then you can always
06:00 fix it.
06:03 But make the wing pretty dark and prominent.
06:14 So as you can see, this is not a perfect winged liner and it's definitely not as good as this
06:20 one.
06:22 So how I'm going to fix that is I'm actually going to take a little bit of makeup remover
06:27 on a Q-tip.
06:31 So I put some makeup remover on this Q-tip here and what I'm going to do is I'm going
06:37 to just take it and drag it up.
06:49 As you can see, that eyeliner has improved a lot and what I kind of did is I kind of
06:56 dragged it up as if the point of my eyebrow and the point of the eyeliner were to meet
07:03 right here.
07:04 So that's the kind of angle that you want to drag it up at.
07:08 And it looks a lot more cohesive with my eyeshadow than it did before and it looks a lot more
07:14 similar to the other eye.
07:16 So that is basically how I do a perfect winged liner if maybe I'll mess it up or if I'm not,
07:25 you know, if you're a beginner at doing this sort of thing, it's kind of hard to get used
07:29 to closing one eye, opening the other one, all that kind of stuff.
07:33 So that's a way to fix your winged liner or do your winged liner if you're in a hurry.
07:41 And I would definitely just say to try to at least practice it, you know, doing it freehand
07:46 and if that doesn't work out, you know, you can always use this method to clean it up
07:50 afterwards.
07:52 So that's how I do my winged liner and I hope that this is an easy method that you can practice
08:01 at home.
08:02 Thank you so much for watching.
08:04 And again, I'm Lauren and thank you so much for watching.
