00:07 Hi guys, I am Tina from Makeup Wearables, and today we're gonna create this super fun mermaid braid hairstyle
00:14 perfect for spring and summer that someone had requested on my Facebook page.
00:17 Since my layers are just all over the place and they're just too short for this braid,
00:21 I'm gonna put in my hair extensions, but you can do this even without it.
00:25 So, step number one, we're gonna clip away everything above our eyebrows.
00:29 If you're not wearing hair extensions, try to make the back into a V,
00:33 but if you are wearing hair extensions, then don't bother with the V thing.

00:39 And then we're gonna make the back into two French braids,
00:43 but if you guys want to make Dutch braids because you want it to be more noticeable from the sides,
00:48 you guys can certainly do that.
00:49 And if you're a beginner and can't do these kind of braids, then make two normal braids instead.
00:54 So, to French braid, we're gonna cross the side strands over the middle strand after adding in hair.
01:01 So, adding some hair from the top to the top strand and cross it over the middle strand.

01:11 And adding some hair from the bottom to the bottom strand and cross it over the middle strand.
01:18 Again, top to top, and we're gonna cross it over the middle strand.

02:06 And for this particular hairstyle, we're gonna tug on both sides of the braid to make it bigger,

02:51 And if you have layers like me, try to hairspray the braid, let it dry for a second before fanning it out
02:57 to prevent the layers from escaping.
02:59 It's not gonna be perfect, but it's gonna be better than nothing.

03:37 And once you've made two braids, tie the ends together like so.

03:55 Then release the crown and make a ponytail to do a topsy tail flip.

04:24 And then tug on the sides of the ponytail, and I mean the twisted part to make it more voluminous.

04:37 If you're a beginner, this is how you do a fishtail braid.
04:40 Split your hair in half, and we'll call these sections Elsa and Anna.
04:44 Take some hair from Elsa and give it to Anna.

04:52 Make sure you're placing it in the inside area of Anna.
04:56 Then, take some hair from Anna and cross it over to Elsa,

05:03 Always take the strand from outside area and place it in the inside area of the opposite section.
05:09 And we're gonna repeat this back and forth all the way to the ends of the hair.

05:46 To duplicate the same hairstyle, we're gonna have to gather all three braids to tie together at the end.
05:52 But my top is too short for that because of my layers.
05:55 So what I'm gonna do is tuck the top braid under and blend it.
06:00 And then once you've tied all three braids together somehow,
06:04 we're gonna start tugging on the sides to fan it out.

06:09 And then we're gonna bobby pin.
06:11 The bobby pin part got cut off because my camera decided it was time to stop.
06:15 But I'm gonna bobby pin the braids together so that they don't separate when you move.
06:20 And that's all there is to it.
