00:00 Hey everybody, my name is Darren Mistry.
00:06 I work for the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman and I'm here with Andrea today and
00:11 we're going to show you how to turn a braid into an updo.
00:14 So as you can see, Andrea already has a braid in her hair, which we did very quickly.
00:20 So what we're going to do today is just show you how to turn this into an updo.
00:24 The easiest thing to do, because it's braided all the way down into a pony, is just twist
00:30 it up and then you can wrap it around or wrap it underneath just to tuck it all away.
00:37 Working with the hair as it is today, Andrea has thick hair so the braid is very big.
00:43 So I'm just going to twist it this way first and just add pins as I go.
00:49 Once the hair is braided, it's very easy to tuck the pins into the hair because it has
00:55 something to hold onto inside.
01:05 So you just want to make sure that it's secure and those pins will just slide right into
01:14 the hair.
01:15 Now depending on the look that you want to achieve, you could stop braiding towards
01:21 the top of the head and this will then end up more at the back of the head as opposed
01:26 to lower.
01:27 This is a bit more of a classic look because it's a bit lower.
01:31 And then any loose pieces, just grab a pin and just tuck them in.
01:39 There you have it, a braid into an updo.
