Rising water level in Yamuna River poses threat to India’s Taj Mahal

India's Yamuna river that runs through the northern state of Uttar Pradesh has risen up to the walls of the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra city following a period of heavy rain over the past few days. The rising water level reached the walls of Taj Mahal for the first time in 45 years.

Despite the worsening situation, authorities said the flood is unlikely to damage the main section of Taj Mahal as it was designed to withstand flooding.
