00:00 Running back Tony Pollard and the Dallas Cowboys did not agree to terms on a long-term contract,
00:04 so he will play on the franchise tag.
00:07 Now, how does this affect the Cowboys organization and the team?
00:11 Yeah, and the player.
00:13 There's some speculation that he might follow suit,
00:17 that Tony Pollard might follow suit with Saquon Barkley,
00:20 who has just come out with the Giants star and maybe their best, I think their best player.
00:24 And he came out and said, "I could say bleep the Giants.
00:28 I could say bleep to my teammates."
00:30 And of course, that has an impact that extends far beyond just the Giants running back room.
00:35 That's a major storyline in the NFC East, where the Cowboys and the Eagles rule,
00:40 and the Giants made the playoffs last year on our chasing,
00:43 and obviously across the face of the NFC.
00:45 And then in this era of the devaluation of the running back,
00:49 if Saquon Barkley can't get paid, nobody's going to get paid.
00:53 As it relates to Tony Pollard, and we'll get to the Zach Martin story in a minute,
00:57 I saw somebody speculate, two speculations on Tony Pollard.
01:00 One, well, he'll probably get tagged next year.
01:03 That's $13 million next year.
01:06 I don't know who gave somebody that information, but it's wrong.
01:08 That means that you're guaranteeing Tony Pollard $23 million for two years.
01:13 If you wanted to guarantee Tony Pollard $23 million for two years,
01:17 you would have just signed him.
01:18 So that is absolutely not the plan.
01:20 So this could maybe be Tony's last year?
01:22 I think that's a good bet, that this is Tony Pollard's final year.
01:25 Now, here's another wrinkle, and this is Zach Martin related.
01:28 And I hadn't thought of it until Zach Martin came out using sources with his information.
01:34 Right. Missing training camp.
01:36 I suppose Tony Pollard could say, "Even though I signed that contract, I still want to protest."
01:44 But in the case of Tony Pollard, this needs to be shut down.
01:48 This is his contract.
01:50 The CBA does not allow for him to get any more money, not a penny more.
01:55 This is the deal.
01:56 So there is no purpose in Tony Pollard.
01:59 I don't care what anybody says, not showing up for camp.
02:02 Especially if he does want a long-term deal, he's going to have to produce, right?
02:07 Play and play nice.
02:08 Yeah.
02:08 And play well, which by the way, he will.
02:11 But I don't think there's anything Pollard can do on the field this year
02:15 that would change the Cowboys' perspective on,
02:17 "Oh yeah, let's give them $13 million a year when they're already clearly now
02:21 not even close to wanting to give him much of anything."
