00:00 For more, let's cross to our Kyiv correspondent, Gulliver Craig, who's standing by in Zaparizhia.
00:03 So Gulliver, let's start with these attacks in the South.
00:06 What's the latest?
00:07 Well, I mean, we saw in the report, Mykolaiv and Odessa both saw hits on the city center.
00:17 There are wounded and I believe one dead in Odessa and one dead in Mykolaiv.
00:22 In Odessa, it was the 21-year-old security guard of an administrative building.
00:28 That's how it's being described, that was hit in the city center.
00:32 There have also been attempts over the past three days to hit the port infrastructure
00:37 in both of those cities.
00:39 Yuri Ignat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, said that hypersonic missiles were
00:44 used, X-22 in particular, which are extremely difficult for the Ukrainians to shoot down.
00:51 Basically, they could only shoot them down with the US-supplied Patriot missile battery
00:55 systems.
00:56 Of course, they didn't have them covering those cities.
00:58 There's much talk now in Ukraine of deploying better, more sophisticated surface-to-air
01:05 missiles to those southern cities as soon as possible.
01:09 Meanwhile, Ukraine has also responded to that declaration by the Russian defense ministry,
01:14 saying that they would regard any ship traveling to Ukrainian port as potentially carrying
01:18 weapons, which means basically a threat to destroy those ships, by making exactly the
01:23 same threat of its own, using almost exactly the same language.
01:27 The Ukrainians have said that any ship traveling in the Black Sea to Russian ports or to Ukrainian
01:32 ports currently occupied by Russian forces will be considered as potentially carrying
01:37 weapons and therefore as a legitimate military target.
01:40 And the communique also carries a reminder that Ukraine did sink the flagship of Russia's
01:47 Black Sea fleet, the Moskva, in late spring 2022, therefore it has the capacity to sink
01:55 Russian ships.
01:56 Okay, we'll have to leave it there.
01:57 Our Kiev correspondent, Gulliver Craig, reporting from Zaporizhzhya.
02:00 Gulliver, thanks as always.
