Hot and humid air will fuel thunderstorms across the Northeast before dry weather returns for the second half of the weekend.
Transcript
00:00 I'm Ariella Scully said it is another
00:02 hot day into the Northeast now,
00:04 not as hot as our temperatures were on Friday,
00:07 but still very humid out ahead of a
00:10 front that will bring us strong and not
00:12 severe and possibly severe thunderstorms.
00:14 94 today your exclusive accurate
00:16 forecast into Philadelphia 96 into DC,
00:18 but notice Pittsburgh Syracuse.
00:20 Your temperatures dropping as we
00:22 go throughout our day today because
00:24 as that front moves through bringing
00:26 the thunderstorms bringing the clouds
00:28 coverage and then eventually bringing
00:30 the cooler temperatures but still
00:32 several locations here throughout
00:33 our Saturday afternoon,
00:34 New York City and DC.
00:36 Accurate the real field temperatures
00:38 100 to 105 but Richmond accurate.
00:40 The real field temperatures could be as
00:42 high as a 110 degrees for our afternoon,
00:45 so the fuel is there for these
00:47 thunderstorms between the heat and
00:49 the humidity and that driving
00:50 force of our cold front here.
00:52 So that's why we're watching the
00:54 risk for some severe thunderstorms
00:56 from Pittsburgh to scrape into
00:57 Albany, Boston and New York City.
00:59 Here watching for that weather.
01:01 The flooding downpours localized
01:02 damaging wind gusts 6 to 70 mph.
01:04 Accurate local storm ask all the
01:06 way up to 80 mph so this will
01:09 cause travel disruptions as we
01:10 head throughout our Saturday and
01:12 Saturday evening but then notice
01:14 from West to East we start to
01:16 clear out and cool down Detroit.
01:18 61 tonight, Pittsburgh 63.
01:20 Meanwhile,
01:20 thunderstorms could still be impacting
01:22 I-95 from Boston down through DC as
01:24 we head into the afternoon and
01:26 evening down through DC as we head
01:28 into our Saturday night as this
01:30 front advances it brings much
01:31 nicer weather for the second half.
01:33 Of our weekend,
01:34 so not a weekend washout.
01:35 Look what happens here as we head into the day.
01:38 Sunday, New York City 83,
01:40 Philadelphia 85 Burlington 76 and it
01:41 does look like those cooler temperatures
01:43 do stick around as we head into
01:45 the start of next week.
