00:00 No secret about this. It is still
00:02 roasty toasty hot across the I-95
00:04 corridor today. Boston woof.
00:06 Sorry for this 93 degrees today when
00:08 that historical average high is 76.
00:10 That's pretty brutal.
00:11 We see more of those same temperatures.
00:14 93 degrees in New York today,
00:16 97 in your Accuweather exclusive
00:18 forecast for Philadelphia and
00:19 Washington DC looking at 98 degrees.
00:21 It's going to be absolutely scorching,
00:23 but here's the thing.
00:24 The way we get rid of the heat is with
00:28 thunderstorms we have to pay that price.
00:30 Unfortunately,
00:30 in terms of severe weather and it's
00:32 with an upper level system that just
00:35 doesn't really want to budge.
00:36 So we're watching a few days worth
00:39 of thunderstorms across the country.
00:40 Let's start with this here.
00:42 The severe thunderstorms here in this
00:44 some risk for spotty severe weather
00:45 in cities like Burlington, Portland,
00:47 back toward Worcester,
00:48 Massachusetts into New York,
00:49 Philly and Washington DC as well.
00:51 This is going to be largely in the
00:53 late afternoon and evening and we
00:55 could see damaging gusty winds and
00:56 some very heavy rain. Let's go
00:58 through these storms together and
00:59 as we get to 345 o'clock there they
01:01 go right as you're getting up toward
01:03 I-95 and I-81 it's a bit of a soaking
01:05 commute even across Pennsylvania Turnpike.
01:07 If you're heading out toward,
01:09 let's say cities in Central Pennsylvania
01:10 like Altoona or even to Pittsburgh,
01:12 it's going to be a little bit
01:14 soggy along the way and you want
01:16 to make sure you're checking the
01:17 Accuweather app before you leave the house.
01:19 Two last thing you want to do is
01:21 drive out of your house and into
01:23 severe weather. Bad news.
01:25 That's avoidable,
01:25 so we want to make sure you're
01:27 staying safe here now late tonight.
01:29 That's when these storms
01:30 start to lose some steam.
01:31 They lose some heat and they
01:33 dial back a little bit,
01:34 but it's rinse and repeat.
01:35 Look at future rainfall.
01:36 We just keep it rolling here through
01:38 Saturday, Sunday and even into Monday
01:40 as well looking at one to three
01:41 inches of rain locally.
01:43 What do we mean by locally?
01:44 Not everyone is going to see soaking
01:46 rainfall, but you'll see it where
01:48 the thunderstorm set up.
01:49 If you get under any one of these storms,
01:51 it's going to be a soaking wet mess.
01:53 If you don't, you'll stay pretty dry.
01:55 It's not like that dawn to dusk
01:57 rainfall or anything like that.
01:59 It's just underneath these storms.
02:00 Now that does lead us though to
02:02 a flash flooding wrist.
02:03 Considering we have had so much in the
02:05 way of rain in this part of the country.
02:08 Lately, as we move through the weekend again,
02:10 you can see major cities like Boston,
02:12 New York, even towards Pittsburgh,
02:13 Baltimore and Richmond,
02:14 Virginia with thunderstorms and
02:15 Iraqi weather exclusive forecast.
02:16 If there's any bright side,
02:18 it's that temperatures at least
02:19 start to come down from where they
02:21 have been in the 90s and triple
02:23 digits at least for more so.
02:24 In the 70s and 80s in the 70s
02:27 for some football on Monday,
02:28 Monday Night Football is back and
02:30 we've got a New York game here
02:32 kicking off at 8:15 PM Eastern Time.
02:34 Buffalo taking on New York 77 degrees
02:37 at the time of kickoff with an
02:39 acuweather real field temperature
02:40 of 80 degrees in East Rutherford.
02:42 Of course, we'll be watching,
02:44 but more so will be watching.
02:46 For the weather.
