Kalen DeBoer on Fall Practice

UW coach Kalen DeBoer was pleased with his team's approach to fall camp early on.

00:00 It's a great day, just both sides of the ball in a rhythm right now as far as what

00:05 a practice should look like.

00:06 It doesn't mean everything's perfect, the plays aren't run perfect, executed,

00:10 but they're coming out with energy, effort, and that's what we ask.

00:14 That's what I'm gonna ask them to, just working together,

00:17 knowing how to practice, keeping each other up.

00:21 Yesterday was first day in pads and the guys are anxious and excited.

00:24 A couple more guys on the ground than you want, but we got through it,

00:27 we learned from it, coached them up in the team meeting yesterday and

00:33 came out and responded and did a great job, I thought, with that.

00:37 We need everyone, so keeping them safe is first and foremost, but

00:41 both sides just doing some good things.

00:42 So I'm really proud of where we're at here through four practices and

00:47 we're definitely hungry.

00:48 You can see that, just how the energy and attitude is.

00:53 >> Your reaction to the Big Ten?

00:55 >> Yeah, I mean, for us, and I understand,

01:00 you wanna know about the Big Ten and how we feel.

01:04 It's an exciting thing for us to know and

01:08 be able to put a plan together on what it's gonna look like down the road for us.

01:12 And certainly the conference has had a lot of just historic greatness

01:17 on the field and every athletic program.

01:24 But also in the classroom academically, and so excited about that.

01:28 I think for this team right now, the key is to just focus on the 2023 fall here and

01:34 enjoy the last season here playing in the Pac-12,

01:38 which has brought a lot of great moments.

01:42 This program and the Pac-12, a lot of pride, a lot of great times.

01:47 And we're gonna certainly, the hope is to add to that.

01:51 And so this team is focused on now, really getting caught up in all of that.

01:56 Really wasn't a distraction to them, cuz they know they can't control it anyway.

02:00 And so making the most of the 2022 season is right now what this team's focused on
