00:03 A comedian from Chesterfield has been sentenced for making and possessing thousands of child sexual abuse images.
00:10 Tom Christopher Binns, aged 53, of Chesterfield, was identified by the National Crime Agency
00:15 after indecent images were uploaded to a Google account in his name.
00:19 Binns was arrested by National Crime Agency officers at his Chesterfield home in November 2020.
00:25 Three of his devices were seized, which forensic examination showed contained more than 9,000 images in category A to C,
00:32 A being the most severe.
00:34 He later admitted five counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing them at Derby Crime Court last year.
00:41 He was sentenced at the same court on Thursday to 10 months in prison, suspended for 15 months.
00:46 He was also subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
00:53 NCAA operation manager Holly Trink said
01:20 A community plan to turn a Matlock car park into an oasis of social housing and allotments
01:25 has been giving a significant boost after the land was given protected legal status,
01:29 meaning residents now have an opportunity to buy the site from Derbyshire County Council.
01:34 The Matlock Community Land Trust has been successful in its application to Derbyshire Dales District Council
01:39 for the Cavendish Road car park and the adjacent playing field to be designated as an asset of community value.
01:46 The county authority put the 0.9 hectare site up for sale earlier this year,
01:51 causing outcry from local residents who had used the car park freely for decades
01:55 and feared it might be filled with densely built housing,
01:58 adding to the developments already in the pipeline along Matlock's northern edge.
02:02 Instead, those residents are putting forward their own plan for a smaller number of social housing units,
02:07 a community orchard, pond and allotment, as well as parking spaces,
02:11 but that depends on the group striking a deal with the county council.
