00:00 Hello, Wednesday's weather is a mixture of sunshine and showers across the UK. For some
00:04 of us those showers will be heavy, for others you won't see any at all.
00:08 It's down to this area of low pressure, it's spilling away in towards the North Sea. A
00:11 brief ridge of high pressure then follows in, but we are keeping our eyes on this next
00:15 system coming in for Thursday, more on that in just a moment.
00:19 But back to the here and now, through the rest of Wednesday afternoon we've got a mixture
00:22 of sunshine and showers as I say. Some heavy ones likely for Yorkshire, East Anglia, South
00:27 East England, a peppering of showers across Scotland as well. But for many of us it is
00:31 a dry day, cloud coming and going, there will be some decent spells of sunshine and temperatures
00:36 faring not too bad, highs of 20 or 21 degrees Celsius.
00:40 Most of the showers then fade as we head through this evening, the cloud melts away and those
00:45 skies clear. So for the time of year for late August it is going to be quite chilly, particularly
00:49 across northern and eastern areas where we hang on to those clear skies. But you'll notice
00:53 out towards the west, keep an eye on this system pushing its way in. This is going to
00:57 bring some wetter weather through Thursday, knocking on the doors by dawn for Pembrokeshire,
01:02 parts of Cornwall just edging into Northern Ireland as well. But temperatures recovering
01:06 out towards the west, staying in double figures then as we start Thursday morning.
01:10 So a bit of a west-east split through the morning. Temperatures will start the day pretty
01:15 cold across our more rural spots across the east, twos and threes in some places, but
01:20 as I say, double figures out towards the west. Now through the morning that rain is going
01:25 to spill its way into Wales, southwest England, some heavy rain to contend with first thing.
01:30 Spray on the roads, do take care if you are planning on travelling. Edges into the Midlands,
01:34 Northern Ireland and the south-east of England, petering out a little bit as it does so. But
01:38 ahead of it and to the north, it stays fine through much of Thursday. Scotland, for example,
01:42 having a lovely day as well as north-east England and the far eastern coast.
01:47 Temperatures in the sunshine 21 or so degrees Celsius, but under this cloud of rain, it's
01:52 going to feel quite chilly, just 16 or so degrees, which is pretty low for this stage of the year.
01:58 A few heavy showers then follow on into the evening for the southwest. One or two of these
02:03 could have a rumble of thunder, some of those getting into Northern Ireland as well. But I
02:07 think for most places, some brightness filtering its way in before that sun sets. And then as we
02:12 head in towards Friday, we continue with a bit of a mixed bag of weather. And that's because of this
02:18 area of low pressure. It's centred across the UK on Friday, but it eases away. And then as we head
02:23 into the weekend, an area of high pressure settling its way in. So, the weather is set to turn more
02:29 settled towards the weekend. For more information on that, though, you can follow us online.
02:34 See you soon. Bye-bye.
