Today will start with a much drier condition, with the remnant of yesterday's rain lingering across southeast which will eventually clear eastwards. 00:00Morning. Good news for the flood-affected areas. Today is going to be a much, much drier
00:06day. It won't be completely dry everywhere across the U.K., northern Scotland in particular
00:10seeing outbreaks of rain. And we're starting the day still with some of yesterday's rain
00:15lingering over East Anglia and the southeast. But it is scooting away now and generally
00:19much drier over the Midlands and more central parts of southern England compared to yesterday.
00:25A sprinkling of showers developing over northern England and into southern Scotland, some heavier
00:29bursts of rain likely. That northerly breeze bringing a chill to the Moray Firth and across
00:34the Northern Isles also where there will be further showers coming in. Temperatures struggling
00:38a little bit with the rain and that breeze coming in from the north, 10 or 11 at best.
00:42Further south, well it'll certainly feel a bit warmer than yesterday because it won't
00:45be as wet. Temperatures only getting up to 15, 16 degrees. A bit of brightness could
00:50see 18 degrees in parts of the south. Now as we go through this evening, still a few
00:55showers to come and go over the far north of England, southern Scotland turning drier
01:00and clearer along the Moray Firth. But then more showers come in across the far north
01:04and we'll start to see some showery rain returning to south Wales and southwest England overnight.
01:09But for many it'll be a dry night and with the colder air coming in, just a whiff of
01:14blue on the chart there suggesting some of the Scottish glens could dip down close to
01:19freezing. Certainly down to 5 to 6 degrees even in some urban areas across the north.
01:24Further south it'll remain mostly in double digits. That's because more cloud will be
01:29spilling in across the southwest. And that is a sign of things to come. Thickening cloud
01:34through the day. Weather system coming in from the Atlantic will steadily introduce
01:38grey skies over the southwest and further outbreaks of rain. There'll be some showers
01:43ahead of it but generally again a mostly dry day over the Midlands and eastern England.
01:48A few showers over northern England and southern Scotland but a good chunk of central Scotland
01:53looking dry and bright on Wednesday and same goes for northern Ireland. Although here too
01:56that cloud will be increasing by the end of the day. Temperature wise, well again 10 or
02:0111 Celsius across the north. The winds are a little lighter at least further south. We
02:05should get into the mid teens, maybe the high teens in the far south late in the day because
02:09this band of rain is also bringing with it some slightly warmer air. But it is part of
02:15a bigger weather system. These weather fronts tied around this area of low pressure that
02:19will dominate our weather through Wednesday night and Thursday bringing further spells
02:23of rain particularly across the south. And then as they kind of clear away, notice the
02:29isobars pointing up to the north. That is where our winds will be coming from through
02:33Friday. That means it will turn colder as we head through the end of the week and into
