An easterly breeze will push cloud over most of England and Wales and eastern Scotland on Thursday evening. In north and west Scotland and Northern Ireland, it will stay much clearer and drier. For most in the UK it will be a cool and dry start to Friday, with some isolated showers possible in coastal areas. Into tomorrow, the cloud will linger some heavier showers to come for the south. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 19/09/24. 00:00Hello if you're watching this on YouTube don't forget to hit subscribe. Our
00:04weather patterns are changing. We've had high pressure controlling things for
00:08most of this week bringing a lot of dry weather and many of us some sunshine. The
00:13high is still nearby keeping things dry across the north for the next couple of
00:17days but further south low pressure is just pushing in. The ice bars are
00:22squeezing together as well so the breeze which has been pretty noticeable across the
00:26south today will continue and this low pressure will introduce some heavy
00:30even thundery showers from Friday onwards. Let's rewind the clock though
00:34and go through Thursday night first of all we've still got that easterly breeze
00:38just dragging in a bit more cloud again. It's been sticking to parts of the east
00:42of England through the day and it's going to push back inland overnight
00:46getting into parts of Wales across eastern Scotland and much of England by
00:51dawn. The west though generally stays dry some decent clear spells across
00:55Northern Ireland in the west here temperatures down to single figures
00:58western Scotland also seeing those temperatures well down into single
01:01digits but with that cloud acting like a blanket that'll keep the temperatures
01:05up across England and Wales. That cloud though is going to be thick enough for a
01:08little bit of rain and drizzle here and there and maybe a bit of a damp start on
01:12some of these North Sea coasts and certainly over the Pennines a bit of
01:15drizzle could even be one or two showers across the south first thing. For most
01:19though it's just a grey dry start. What we'll see through the day is the cloud
01:23breaking up like recent days to reveal some sunshine but then that sunshine
01:27likely to trigger some heavy showers. East Anglia in the southeast initially
01:31but then over the Midlands Wales and southwest England during the afternoon.
01:34They could be pretty lively showers as well some thunderstorms hail and thunder
01:40possible too. The cloud is going to be a bit more stubborn across northeast
01:44England into eastern Scotland compared to recent days so some here likely to
01:47stay pretty drab with some drizzle on the hills but yet again look at that
01:51Northern Ireland western Scotland doing pretty good for sunshine and here
01:55temperatures getting up into the mid to high teens maybe even 20 Celsius. Over
01:5920 in the south again so feeling quite warm here but there will be those
02:03thundery showers and quite cool I suspect on some of these North Sea
02:07coasts where it does stay drab. Let's focus in then on those showers they're
02:12not going to be everywhere in this warning area. The very nature of
02:15thunderstorms is that they're hit and miss. One place gets a downpour five
02:18miles away it may be dry but where they do occur likely to cause some issues.
02:23Potential for flooding certainly a lot of spray and surface water on the roads
02:27parts of the M4 and the M5 especially for Friday evenings rush hour so just
02:31bear that in mind as these showers will continue into the evening time. They
02:36should fade as we go through the night and will continue with that thicker
02:39cloud across northeast England eastern Scotland likely to push back in over the
02:43Midlands and parts of Wales as we head into the weekend and notice we're not
02:47done with the thundery showers more of them brewing up across parts of the
02:51south again quite a mild night for many but with the clearest skies over
02:54northern Scotland again some rural spots down into single digits. Saturday is
02:59going to be a similar kind of day with some of these North Sea coasts staying
03:02grey a bit of drizzle further south yes some bright or sunny spells but further
03:08heavy showers likely over the Midlands southern England and parts of Wales
03:12again western Scotland probably favour for some sunshine a fine day by and large
03:17in Northern Ireland also and again those temperature contrasts with the breeze
03:20from the North Sea quite cool here and some sunshine in western Scotland high
03:24teens in the south still quite warm air so yes when the Sun's out temperatures
03:29over 20 degrees but again the potential for some heavy downpours for big
03:35thundery showers to develop so we also have a yellow Met Office thunderstorm
03:40warning in place for Saturday again not everywhere in this warning zone will see
03:45a downpour but where they do occur they are likely to cause some disruption so
03:50again if you're traveling on Saturday bear that in mind a lot of spray and
03:53surface water on the roads for more information about those weather warnings
