00:00 John is the opener Thursday night for the Lions, a must win already.
00:03 Week one matchup, but is it truly a must win for the Lions?
00:07 Yeah, Vito, it's real interesting.
00:10 You have a fan base that is so excited.
00:12 Literally every single piece of content they're absorbing.
00:16 They're looking at players, social media feeds.
00:18 They're looking at every bit of information that is being put out
00:22 there regarding the Detroit Lions.
00:24 And now it's time to see what these lines are about.
00:27 Real interesting in that they've dipped in recent NFL power
00:30 pools ahead of week one.
00:31 So many people are wondering, can they actually live up to the hype
00:35 knowing that they have two tough games to start the year?
00:38 I look at it and I say it's not must win because this football team
00:43 has started rough in the past and they've ended up winning games and having,
00:47 you know, look, Vito, it's a long football season with 17 NFL games.
00:51 And then you have a 10 day turnaround where you can come back
00:53 and still defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the home opener.
00:56 I look at it like the Detroit Lions must go out there
01:00 and perform at a very high level.
01:02 They must be crisp.
01:03 They must limit the mistakes.
01:05 They want to have a positive showing because the eyes of the entire NFL
01:09 world are going to be watching the Chiefs for sure.
01:11 But they're also going to be watching and looking at
01:13 are these lines that everybody's been talking about all offseason?
01:17 Are they for real?
01:18 Is Dan Campbell really doing things with this roster
01:21 that can potentially end up producing great results like playoff wins?
01:26 So I think that even though look, you know, anybody going up against
01:29 the Chiefs is going to be really facing a tall task at Arrowhead Stadium
01:33 facing Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.
01:36 But if the Detroit Lions can stay toe to toe, if it's a close contest,
01:39 if Patrick Mahomes has his wizardry late in the fourth quarter,
01:43 I don't think too many people are going to complain.
01:45 As long as the game's entertaining and the Detroit Lions play a crisp game
01:50 and make plays, if Patrick Mahomes does his thing and ends up
01:53 winning the game late, I don't think people are going to complain too much.
01:56 But if the Lions have a sloppy showing with a lot of penalties,
02:00 undisciplined play and maybe even some decisions from the coaches
02:04 that lead to question marks, then you're going to see a lot of fans
02:08 start to get upset.
02:09 John, thanks for all the insight.
