00:13 More than 50,000 school and council workers will begin voting on the strike action today

00:16 and ballots will take place at almost 3,000 schools and local authorities across England

00:21 and Wales including Sussex.

00:22 There have been previous strikes across the county including Eastbourne, Welling as well

00:26 as across the entirety of East Sussex.

00:28 With workers vote to strike walkouts at schools and councils across England and Wales could

00:32 begin as soon as November 9th.

00:36 In Eastbourne competitors are gearing up for this year's seafront soapbox race on Sunday

00:40 September 24th with entries due to close this upcoming Monday.

00:44 The event returns to the seafront highlighting wacky racing style fun and capers to the town

00:49 with local businesses, charities and a group of friends taking on the challenge.

00:53 Participants are encouraged to build their own soapbox in order to race each other along

00:56 the seafront.

00:57 The race will take place on Duke's Drive and finish at Hedding's Gardens where a soapbox

01:01 will feature a big screen, food and drink retails and a rail of soapboxes on display.

01:07 And finally Simon Grimley a floor layer from Polgate has reached the final of Scrufix top

01:13 tradesperson at 2023.

01:15 Simon Grimley is one step closer to being crowned the top tradesperson after reaching

01:19 the final of the international award alongside nine others.

01:22 Simon 45 has had 23 years of experience in the trade and impressed judges during the

01:26 semi-final stage with his passion for supporting those at the start of their career which he

01:30 has been a regular volunteer his time at his local college.

01:33 The final will take place at Scrufix Live on Friday September 22nd where Simon will

01:37 have the chance to highlight his professionalism, dedication and commitment to the trade in

01:40 front of a panel of industry experts.
