00:00 In week two, the Detroit Lions open up as betting favorites
00:03 against the Seattle Seahawks.
00:04 Here today to explore is All-Lions senior writer,
00:07 Vito Chirco.
00:07 Vito, I'm curious, what do you make of the Lions
00:09 being five and a half point favorite to start the week
00:12 up against their next opponent, the Seattle Seahawks?
00:15 - John, why not more?
00:17 Only five and a half points?
00:18 I mean, are you drinking the Kool-Aid yet?
00:20 All these Lions fans, I think,
00:21 are probably thinking right now,
00:23 five and a half point favorite
00:24 after what just happened to Seattle in week one
00:27 at Seattle, losing 30 to 13.
00:29 Against Matthew Stafford and the LA Rams,
00:31 who are supposed to be this putrid team, right?
00:34 Perhaps under 500, you know,
00:35 very, just a very poor team throughout this season.
00:38 And yet they blow out the Seahawks at third place,
00:41 the home of the 12th man.
00:42 And they blow them out 30 to 13 in that opener, John.
00:44 I mean, that was a bit shocking, I think,
00:46 for the Seattle faithful there to witness that.
00:49 And it happened though.
00:50 It happened.
00:51 And what also happened is that the Lions beat the Chiefs
00:53 in week one on the road to Arrowhead.
00:55 Perhaps the toughest place to play to open up the season
00:58 when they're lifting that bank,
00:59 honor their championship right from a year ago.
01:02 And then you start off the way, the season that way,
01:04 winning that game, it was an upset, obviously.
01:07 And you had Drozer Lions that really took the Chiefs fans
01:10 out of that ballgame at Arrowhead as well.
01:13 An impressive victory by the Lions.
01:15 And now everybody wants to get us totally,
01:17 totally drinking the Kool-Aid.
01:19 Five and a half point favorite going into week two now,
01:22 as you already stated, John.
01:24 And to me, I think that line could only increase
01:26 as the week does progress.
01:28 Because of the fact that you look at, once again,
01:30 the circumstances.
01:31 The Lions upset victory of the Chiefs.
01:33 The Seahawks getting blown out and at home as well.
01:37 And the Lions being at home now in forward field
01:39 with this rocky, sold out atmosphere.
01:42 To me, I only expect loud and proud fans
01:46 shouting all game long.
01:48 And I also expect a Lions victory.
01:50 And right now I can see the Lions easily winning
01:52 by 10 to 12 points because of how they played in week one.
01:55 And also because of the fact that you saw Seattle struggle
01:58 as mightily as Stafford and Tutu, Atwell,
02:00 and company there on Sunday.
02:02 So for me, once again, I like the line where it's at right now.
02:05 It could be more.
02:06 But also, once again, I really do believe, John,
02:09 that the line will increase ever so slightly
02:11 as the week does progress.
