00:40 Because of the SRA's price, even if the production of sugar is partially increased to 1.85 million metric tons,

00:47 there is a risk of El Niño that it might affect the farmers.

00:51 Aside from this, the expected demand for sugar will reach 2.2 million metric tons or higher in the supply.

00:59 If El Niño is really severe, we expect about 10 to 15 percent drop.

01:10 The SRA is not yet in charge, so there is no need for a new importation.

01:16 But they will study early if the supply will be lacking.

01:20 By May and June, we will have ample sugar.

01:22 The shortages usually is felt before the next milling.

01:25 So usually at the beginning, first quarter of 2024, we should already start surveying and planning if we will really lack or if we really need to import.

01:36 For now, the price of sugar remains stable since February.

01:40 Despite the government's efforts to lower the price of sugar, it did not return to the previous level of 50 pesos per kilo.
