00:00 That was like my top three dreams as a kid was like, be the hands of Cheetle, be a superhero
00:06 and be a literal doll.
00:08 Brooke, I'm three for three.
00:10 So I'm done.
00:11 A happy man.
00:12 Yeah, great, great.
00:13 Perfect.
00:14 Hold here.
00:15 You can't even see me.
00:16 Can you give me a little bit of something with the fingertips?
00:18 Maybe a bit of a waggle?
00:19 A waggle?
00:20 A waggle.
00:21 Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:23 That.
00:24 Do that, but with your fingertips.
00:27 Yes.
00:28 Yes.
00:29 Hey, Simu, thanks so much for taking the time to chat with NeuroCity.
00:32 So you got a nice little background there.
00:34 How are we doing?
00:35 I got a nice little spread.
00:36 Like, I thought I'd spruce up the place with a little bit of orange.
00:38 I thought that I thought it needed a little pop of color.
00:41 As you can see, the walls are very gray.
00:43 And and then, you know, funny thing, I had all these Cheetos lying around.
00:48 And so I just started I just started arranging them.
00:51 And three hours later, this is what I this is what I came up with.
00:54 So I love it.
00:55 It feels very fitting.
00:56 You know, now you're the face.
00:57 Sorry.
00:58 You're the hands of Cheetle.
00:59 So your apartment kind of has to reflect that, I feel.
01:01 Yeah.
01:02 Yeah.
01:03 What made you want to be the hand of Cheetle?
01:05 Who doesn't who doesn't want to be the hand of Cheetle?
01:08 I feel like that was my that was like on my dream board.
01:12 That was like that was like my top three dreams as a kid was like, be the hands of Cheetle,
01:17 be a superhero and be a literal doll.
01:21 And Brooke, I'm three for three.
01:24 So I'm dying to have you met.
01:26 You've been traveling so much.
01:27 You're in Toronto, you're in L.A., you've gone to some amazing destinations around the
01:30 world with winter coming up for Torontonians.
01:33 If they could have one vacation, where should they go?
01:35 Where should they go?
01:37 Where should they go?
01:38 That's a really good question.
01:41 You know, it depends.
01:42 I'm a big one of my favorite things to do is to plan itineraries for myself, for other
01:47 people.
01:49 You know, I'm my instinct would be to say go somewhere tropical, you know, go to go to
01:54 Cancun, you know, go to last last winter.
01:59 I went to Anguilla, which which is crazy.
02:04 Maybe two years ago, didn't even know that Anguilla existed.
02:07 But it's got some of the most beautiful beaches and amazing people you'll ever meet.
02:11 But if you're a cold weather person and you love the slopes, then go to Tromblon, you
02:16 know, go to Tromblon, go to Whistler, stay in Canada, do a little apres ski.
02:21 I mean, it all just depends on what you want.
02:25 But the most important thing is that you replenish yourself, you know, rest your body and soul
02:32 and your mind and and and have a do with a little bit of Cheeto on your fingertips.
02:39 You know what I mean?
02:40 We did it, Simu.
02:41 Yeah, basic Cheetos.
02:42 That's a big deal.
02:43 Yeah.
02:44 There's just like a couple of things in the contract I want you to peruse.
02:46 Yeah, sure.
02:47 Oh, I can't sign autographs.
02:49 You hosted the Junos again this year.
02:51 What did you think of the person who crashed during Avril Lavigne's presentation?
02:54 It takes a lot of something to go up on a stage, a nationally televised stage with with
03:00 a Canadian sweetheart, and then to just, you know, show it all.
03:07 I wouldn't be able to.
03:09 So so yeah, I mean, it definitely it definitely takes something amounting to courage or or,
03:16 you know, that fine line between courage and stupidity.
03:18 I don't know where she was.
03:20 I think she was all over that line and over on both sides and just hop stepping.
03:24 But but, you know, what I what I really was surprised by is how long the security let
03:30 it go on for, because I saw it happening backstage and I was like, oh, my God.
03:38 And then like it's still it just went on for the 30 seconds.
03:42 And I wonder if it was because it was just so brazen that the security guard was like,
03:46 oh, well, this must be a part of the show.
03:51 But I mean, for those of us who knew that it wasn't, I think we were just like horrified
03:55 just standing there watching it happen.
03:58 And I know that that particular woman had a had a cause that she was there to, you know,
04:03 to promote.
04:04 I don't know what that had to do with breasts, but, you know, I was something about that
04:11 message I think maybe got lost in the nudity of it all.
04:13 I mean, it was an effective way to get people talking and, you know, talking to people talking.
04:18 Have you ever Googled yourself and what was the most surprising thing you learned and
04:22 what was one wild and untrue thing you learned?
04:25 Oh, my God.
04:26 Yeah, I've Googled.
04:27 I've done it a couple of times.
04:28 I've done it a couple of times.
04:31 I would say it's terrible for mental health because it's like that thing in high school
04:36 where it's like, you know, if you know people are talking about you, like, would you rather
04:42 know what they're saying or not?
04:45 I think I don't really want to get into specifics, but I think there's definitely been untrue
04:50 things that I've read about myself.
04:52 And I think the thing that is hard about this whole, I don't know, I guess this fame thing
04:58 is like, you know, you come up in a place where at one point in your career, everything
05:04 you hear is generally pretty supportive.
05:06 And then, you know, you get to a place and I think that's maybe indicative of like where,
05:12 you know, what is that in their career when the negativity starts to happen.
05:16 And you know, I think I think there's there it takes a real discipline and a strength
05:21 of mind to say, I'm not going to be able to get through to everyone.
05:28 I'm not going to be able to explain myself to everyone or to tell the truth to everyone.
05:33 Not everyone's going to want to hear it.
05:35 Not everyone's going to, you know, care, which fair enough, you know.
05:42 And you just got to let the haters hate because, you know, as they say, haters haters going
05:46 to hate.
05:47 So I'm going to read you some Narcissity headlines about you and I want you to react.
05:51 Okay.
05:52 Okay.
05:53 Top of mind.
05:54 So we're going to start.
05:55 Simu Liu was a total fanboy at Taylor Swift's concert and shared some deep cut Swiftie
05:59 takes.
06:00 Mm hmm.
06:01 Yeah, yeah.
06:02 I have been a bit more of a Swiftie in recent.
06:06 I mean, I think I've always been like a support, like a casual fan.
06:10 You know, I know the songs that everyone else knows.
06:13 And Taylor's released some absolute bangers over the years.
06:16 You know, her 1989 era in the Aries tour was like I was pretty much on my feet jumping
06:23 the whole time.
06:24 What I've really learned to appreciate in this last year is some of the like lesser
06:30 known songs or some of her for like, you know, it's like it's not the stuff that is her potential,
06:37 like maybe the catchiest, but there's real insight and real heart.
06:42 And, you know, and songs like we'll just talk about Midnight's first like songs like the
06:46 Great War, you know, which one of my favorites, one of my absolute favorites.
06:52 Songs like Daylight.
06:55 Songs that like are just they're so sounds like Cornelia Street, you know, like they're
07:01 so specific songs like all too well, 10 minute version.
07:05 So specific.
07:06 And because they're so specific, they're so universally relatable.
07:10 And she's got this just wonderful, unique ability to just tap into what everyone is
07:15 feeling.
07:16 And I think she's so real for that, you know.
07:19 So I got the next one for you.
07:21 Okay, this one's a little spicy.
07:22 Buckle up.
07:23 Okay.
07:24 Oh, okay.
07:25 So I'm going to read this one.
07:26 I'm going to read this one.
07:27 I'm going to read this one.
07:28 I'm going to read this one.
07:29 Okay.
