00:00 It's hot in Toronto! I love it I'm not complaining.
00:06 What's up everyone? Ashna here. Alright get ready to raise your glasses because I'm about to take you on a tour to some of Toronto's best happy hour spots.
00:18 I'm talking $3 tacos, $1 oysters, half price bottles of wine.
00:23 So today we're going to go down King Street West. It's one of the hottest areas of Toronto for restaurants and nightlife. Alright let's go.
00:30 Our first stop is Anejo, a Mexican spot with a long tequila menu.
00:34 From 3 to 5pm they have $6 margs, $3 tacos and half price tequila. Actually they even have a happy hour after 10pm from 10 to 12.
00:42 Right when we walked in the place was already buzzing. It felt so festive. So first impression, the vibes were great.
00:47 And I found out that they make fresh guac on the table. It's not on their happy hour menu but my mouth was watering already.
00:53 So a Mexican restaurant, when I put tequila, tacos and margaritas we have over 100 people. Tequila!
00:58 I love that there was a long list of margs and tacos to choose from. We ordered the mango and raspberry jalapeno margaritas.
01:04 It's good, it's tangy. It's a little bit spicy, it's good.
01:08 And for tacos we got the chicken tinga and crispy fried tilapia. I mean for an $18 meal you can't really go wrong.
01:13 It's a good taco. Just finished at Anejo and honestly I had a pretty good time. Their tacos were good.
01:18 I mean it wasn't my favourite taco in the world but I'd give it like a 7 out of 10.
01:22 For ambiance, I mean the place was already buzzing at 4pm. So overall experience I'd probably give it a 7 or 8 out of 10.
01:29 The service was great, the food was good, the margs were great and I'd definitely go back.
01:34 Our next stop is Barro, a 3 floor restaurant serving up South American flavours with a modern twist.
01:39 Play nice music.
01:42 We got a seat on the rooftop and it was gorgeous.
01:45 Oh my gosh this is so nice.
01:48 The big windows let in so much fresh air and natural light I felt like I was in another country.
01:52 Patio is beautiful but it's 30 degrees outside and the sun is hitting my face a little high.
01:56 So the happy hour menu is a little small. There are 3 drinks to choose from priced at $16 and $15 and 3 apps between $10 and $11.
02:04 I ordered a Mai Tai and Lamb Skewers.
02:06 Look at how beautiful this Mai Tai looks. It's like in a fake coconut looking glass.
02:12 That's delicious. This is a delicious cocktail.
02:18 They definitely know what they're doing.
02:20 All the food served on the rooftop is barbecued on this open charcoal grill.
02:24 Okay here are the Lamb Skewers with Chimichurri Mayo. Let's try this out.
02:35 This is so good.
02:36 The meat is tender, it's well seasoned. This is really really good. I want more.
02:41 Just left Barrow. It was my first time going there and I loved it.
02:46 I really didn't feel like I was in Toronto anymore. I felt like I was in Mexico actually.
02:51 The lamb was amazing. The drinks also 10/10.
02:55 Overall I would 150% go back. The place was awesome. The drinks were delicious.
03:00 And the music was really really good too.
03:02 This is Belfast Love. I'm not going to get a chance to check it out.
03:05 They actually just started a new happy hour menu from 12 to 5. That's a pretty long happy hour.
03:11 They have $5 Bomber Lagers and $9 Freehouse Spritz Cocktails which is like their house cocktail.
03:17 I've been here before, not on a happy hour and I really enjoyed it.
03:20 It's also a place you can think about checking out.
03:22 Next we headed to Locals Only, a lower level bar with a street patio.
03:25 We decided to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful day.
03:28 And today they have Bucka Shuck Oysters, half price bottles of wine and Prosecco from 5 to 7pm.
03:34 I ordered a bottle of wine which came out to be $24 with a discount, 6 oysters and a watermelon salad.
03:39 The oysters are served with the restaurant's house made habanero sauce and let's just say I was not prepared.
03:45 It was so spicy.
03:48 Okay just finished up at Locals Only. Such a great spot. I've never been there before.
03:52 I love how the patio comes onto the road. You can see people walking.
03:57 You really get the vibe of King West. So let's rate it.
04:00 Food, I mean there weren't many food options. There was only oysters for a Bucka Shuck.
04:05 The oysters were kind of small though.
04:07 So there was $1 Bucka Shuck Oysters and then half price wine which is a pretty good deal for a Friday.
04:13 Overall ambiance, the music was great. I love how we could talk to the people around us.
04:18 So I'm going to give this spot a 7.5/10.
04:20 Ruby Soho is also a really popular spot on King West. It's right on King End Portland.
04:25 As you can see there's a lineup outside. It's really busy.
04:28 Their happy hour is from 3pm to 7pm every day.
04:32 And they have a really good selection on their menu.
04:35 They have a bunch of beers on tap for $7. Cocktails $2 off.
04:39 They have shots, wines for $9 and they have a couple of menu options for $10.
04:45 Next we're going to check out Mademoiselle Raw Bar and Grill.
04:48 They've recently been promoting their happy hour so let's go see what they have.
04:52 Mademoiselle is a swanky restaurant serving up an extensive drink menu and dishes inspired by the European coastline.
04:58 Their happy hour includes glasses of wine from $10 to $15 and cocktails ranging from $12 to $22.
05:04 This is the Madame. It's their signature drink and it tastes like a lemon creamsicle.
05:12 For apps we got the mini lobster rolls, snapper ceviche and lamb chops.
05:15 They were all very tasty. Then the manager came out with a big surprise.
05:19 Holy moly! This is amazing!
05:23 What is this?
05:26 My favorite was their signature F.U. roll. It goes for $100. And no, it's not on their happy hour menu.
05:32 Just left Mademoiselle. That place is a vibe. It feels like you're in a mix of Mykonos and Miami.
05:38 It was awesome. So ambiance, 10 out of 10.
05:42 The food was amazing. Price point definitely more expensive than other happy hours you find on King West.
05:50 But an elevated happy hour. I don't think you're going to get that quality of food anywhere else.
05:56 At least not from what I've seen. I will definitely come back to this place.
06:00 Maybe with a little bit more money in my pocket next time.
06:03 Alright, we just finished our happy hour tour here on King Street West.
06:06 And I have to say it was a great success in my opinion.
06:09 I mean it really goes to show that you can find a happy hour that fits your budget and your vibe here.
06:15 So if there's a happy hour that you enjoy on King Street, let us know. Maybe we'll go check it out next.
06:21 That's it for me here.
06:22 I'm Asha from Canada and I'm going to go out where all these other people are going on King Street West tonight.
