00:03 - I'll tell you one guy that doesn't seem
00:04 to be overhyped at all,
00:06 although a lot of people seem to have forgot about him
00:08 is CJ Stroud of all the Anthony Richardson hype
00:12 and Bryce Young hype.
00:13 We kind of forget about CJ Stroud
00:16 and yet I don't think I'm going out of limb here Warren
00:19 to say that this kid is maybe the best of all three of them.
00:22 - No, he is the best of all three
00:25 in terms of his performance thus far,
00:27 especially with the talent around him.
00:29 Week one, he was hit 10 times, sacked five.
00:31 Week two, he was hit nine times, sacked six.
00:35 What he did though, when he was not being pressured,
00:37 which we can pull out those splits
00:39 in the first couple of weeks was incredible.
00:41 Just reading out a couple of these numbers,
00:43 he was number two in EPA,
00:44 number two in rate of passing beyond the sticks,
00:46 number eight in yards per attempt
00:48 and number four in third down conversion rate
00:50 when he was not being pressured
00:52 those first couple of weeks of the season.
00:54 And like I said, he was under pressure a ton.
00:56 We were waiting for the opportunity
00:58 when a defense would not get quite as much pressure.
01:01 And we wanted to see, is this the week for CJ Stroud?
01:04 Will he be able to perform above all expectations?
01:08 To me, he already hit that, but he wasn't having,
01:10 there were more flashes
01:12 because of how often he was getting pressured.
01:13 It wasn't quite as consistent.
01:15 Well, we saw that consistency in full form on Sunday
01:18 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
01:21 He was pressured on only 30% of his dropbacks,
01:23 which was ninth lowest of any quarterback last week.
01:26 Still seems high, but it was ninth lowest.
01:28 And his efficiency was ridiculous.
01:30 He was number two in yards per attempt,
01:33 number three in EPA per attempt
01:35 and number four in success rate.
01:38 He delivered in every which way possible.
01:40 He was working with only one of five
01:43 starting offensive linemen,
01:44 the unit that they trotted out there in the preseason
01:47 for the Houston Texans that this is gonna be
01:48 our starting offensive line.
01:50 Only one of those guys was actually starting in this game
01:53 on Sunday in Jacksonville.
01:54 And despite that, CJ Stroud was able to get rid of the ball.
01:58 Now, a lot of credit also goes to Bobby Slowick,
02:00 their offense coordinator, because this is a tandem.
02:02 You can't have great quarterback performance,
02:04 especially one that exceeds our expectations
02:07 without a great play caller,
02:08 offensive designer calling plays
02:10 and getting the right things in
02:12 and getting the right game plan installed.
02:13 But no doubt about it,
02:14 I was extraordinarily impressed by the performance
02:18 that CJ Stroud put on.
02:19 The only thing that I regret
02:21 is not getting enough involved in this game.
02:23 I mean, I was on multiple passing props for CJ Stroud here,
02:27 hitting a bunch of his wide receivers,
02:29 either over their longest reception,
02:31 because this is an offense that is pushing the ball
02:33 down the field, as well as, you know,
02:35 receptions for Tank Dell,
02:36 who I think it was at three and a half plus 135.
02:39 Like they were still underestimating Tank Dell
02:41 for another week.
02:42 I doubt they'll make that mistake moving forward,
02:44 but let's keep our fingers crossed, Joe.
02:46 But certainly there's a lot of upside here
02:48 with this passing.
02:49 Now the Houston Texans go into Pittsburgh next week,
02:52 take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
02:54 That aggressive pass rush could cause some problems
02:57 for this Texans offense,
02:58 unless they get a little bit healthier along that line.
03:00 But those times that they don't get pressure,
03:03 I mean, I'm expecting some pretty exceptional things here
03:06 out of CJ Stroud,
03:07 because he's just been marvelous to start the year
03:09 and definitely is not going discussed enough,
03:12 in my opinion.
