T.J. Edwards sees a lack of big plays from the Chicago Bears defense but believes, like coach Matt Eberflus does, that they're close to making them.

00:03 I understand it.
00:19 I'm from here, so I get it and understand the media
00:23 and how it all works.
00:25 But for me, and I think the mindset that we have right now
00:28 is just focusing on our next week.
00:30 I think we can't really control what people are saying
00:32 and what the past has looked like.
00:34 But for us, all we want to do is change
00:36 to change what's happening right now.
00:38 And that just takes us coming in here every single day,
00:41 coming together.
00:42 I think, again, we've done a really good job of that
00:44 throughout this time of coming together.
00:46 It's not so we just got to go out and execute, man, really.
00:48 I feel like we are, and I feel like as a unit,
00:51 we're close as well.
00:52 I think it's just going to take--
00:54 again, I think the start of the games
00:55 have been big in terms of getting a jump start on that
00:58 and making a big play on defense to spark this thing.
01:02 But yeah, I think there's been times
01:04 where we've had opportunities and we just
01:07 haven't maybe been off on our alignment
01:08 or some things like that.
01:09 But we're close.
01:11 And you can feel as a defense that that's our goal.
01:14 We want to make those plays.
01:15 We want to take the ball away.
01:17 We want to create, steal a possession,
01:18 and things like that.
01:20 It's going to take what we do on the practice field
01:21 every day to get that done.
01:22 Run game-wise, I thought we were actually decent.
01:24 I thought we were solid in terms of point of attack.
01:26 I thought the D-line did a really good job of the run
01:28 game and things like that.
01:29 But for us, I think it's been a focus that we've had
01:33 is really those third downs and getting rid
01:36 of those explosive passes.
01:37 And that's everybody.
01:38 That's from the rush, the back end, the linebackers.
01:41 That's everyone doing their job so we
01:44 can get those things hammered down so that we
01:46 can get off the field.
01:47 A lot of drives, we've had chances to get off the field.
01:50 We've had a third and manageable,
01:52 and we're just not doing it.
01:53 So it's finding a way to make those things happen
01:56 so that we can get off the field and get our offense out there
01:59 and get this thing done.
02:00 Yeah, I think a lot of those games last year
02:02 were close games that you just happen
02:06 to make one more play than the other team at the end.
02:08 And I think that's the biggest thing right here for us
02:10 is playing complementary football,
02:13 helping each other out so that we all have energy.
02:16 We all are feeling good.
02:17 We all are in a rhythm.
02:19 And I think that's big time.
02:20 I mean, there's ebbs and flows of every game.
02:22 And there's highs and lows.
02:23 And the biggest thing is those good teams
02:26 find a way to pull those ones out.
02:28 And right now, we're focused on just, again,
02:31 everyone doing their job to the best of their ability.
02:33 And we'll be just fine.
02:34 We have the pieces.
02:35 We have everything we need.
02:36 It's just putting it together to have it show up
02:39 on the field on Sunday.
