00:00 Following a spectacular performance on Thursday night, Detroit Lions running
00:03 back David Montgomery has shown that he is a gritty runner here today to
00:07 analyze his play is S. I. L. Lions. John Macrin. John, give me your
00:11 thoughts on Montgomery's performance as it helped the Detroit Lions defeat the
00:14 Packers. Yeah, when you look at one of the key free agent signings for the
00:19 Lions this offseason, David Montgomery is surely one of them. You see a player
00:23 that just embodies, I think what the lines are looking for. A tough, gritty
00:27 runner wants to football over 30 carries against the Packers on the road
00:33 and you saw a lot of tough carries a lot of grinded out runs. And I think
00:39 that when you when you recognize he was coming off of a thigh bruise, all
00:42 credit to the Lions in that offensive line and the offense for establishing a
00:47 run game. Look, the game plan was simple. Everybody knew that Packers
00:51 run defense was porous. It was not that good going into the game, so it was
00:55 going to be incumbent upon the Lions to run the football, use that offensive
00:59 line to establish dominance. And David Montgomery surely was the beneficiary.
01:04 I just found it that a lot of people looked at the decision to move on from
01:09 Jamal Williams is a head scratcher. But once Dan Campbell described what the
01:13 lines were getting and David Montgomery, he's lived up to the billing a tough,
01:17 gritty runner that I think is one of those runners that the more carries to
01:21 give him, the better off he's going to be. And I think that for the Lions to
01:26 have a player that they can count on in the red zone to secure those tough
01:30 yards, all you gotta look to and point to is a key fourth down decision. Would
01:35 the Lions kick a field goal or go for it on fourth down late in the game to ice
01:40 it? And what did they decide to do? Run the football, pound the rock and David
01:44 Montgomery was the beneficiary. I think that one of the maybe underrated
01:48 signings was the addition of a very talented runner from the Bears in David
01:53 Montgomery, and he's starting to show that you know what? He's a real Dan
01:57 Campbell guy. John David Montgomery has been a great addition to the team. Some
02:00 might even say he's a pit bull out there. Thanks for all the time.
