Sam Hartman and the Notre Dame Receivers Are Still Building Trust
Transcript
00:00 you.
00:03 No problem. It's the latter to me. I mean it's it's you watch
00:08 that game Ryan. He does not have confidence on the outside
00:11 goalball to his receivers. He doesn't you watch so you watch
00:14 y'all. Did you do it last night or this morning like a little
00:17 bit last night? I finished it this morning. There's guys
00:19 there that have steps outside and one on ones Tobias
00:22 especially had four or five chances. He just doesn't have
00:25 confidence and and then the one time he did Tobias showed why
00:28 he's in the department right now. Well, I was going to say
00:30 is that like that it's it's warranted. Yes, that's right
00:34 now. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. So I'm not banging on him. I mean
00:38 his he has not stepped up and made the plays he needs to make
00:41 and even on ones where it's like you know, yeah, I don't
00:45 blame Tobias isn't the reason that that pass against Navy
00:48 fell incomplete. Sam's got the better ball but and and then
00:51 Tobias isn't the reason the one goal ball that he threw to
00:54 the first time the one that fell short was incomplete, but
00:58 it's also kind of like, but you gotta battle more for that
01:00 ball and draw the penalty out, which is what we've talked.
01:03 I've talked about. Yeah. There's no way Tobias goes up
01:06 for that ball in the end zone catches it and stays in bounds.
01:09 His momentum would have carried him right out of bounds, but
01:11 you could have had a much better shot of making that
01:14 penalty is so obvious looking that you got the 15 yards.
01:18 There's no way Tobias is going to catch that ball against
01:20 Duke. There's no way, but you could have battled for it and
01:24 drew that's part of your craft as a receiver right and the
01:27 best receivers in the NFL will will do things. Technically
01:31 speaking to draw a penalty in certain situations, but fight
01:36 through contact. Yes, but you're doing it in a way where
01:38 it's like I'm I'm doing this so it's going to look even more
01:42 like I'm getting you know, like I'm jumping for the ball and
01:44 I'm like oh, you know and making that guy run through
01:46 you know, I had no chance to catch that dang ball, but your
01:49 body language needs to do that and and and he's not doing
01:52 that. so it's warranted because he's more than willing to
01:55 throw balls into tight spots to Mitchell Evans right now. No
01:58 problem doing that. This will catch the ball. Yeah right. So
02:01 I think it's more of a scheme receiver problem than it is Sam
02:05 Hartman because I mean Sam Hartman sailed that that
02:07 crossing out to Rico. I can find plenty of film of him
02:10 doing that. That just happens sometimes right. He was just
02:13 goes off every quarterback has an off night and then
02:16 sometimes quarterbacks just play out of their minds like
02:18 Jaden Daniels was on Saturday night at LSU. I mean he just
02:22 threw some stupidly good passes against Ole Miss, but Sam was
02:27 off on Saturday, but he still threw some dimes. I mean he
02:31 still threw some absolute dimes in that game as well.
