A chance for the Leeds forward to step in?
Transcript
00:00 And another forward for Leeds, Patrick Bamford, obviously back into the mix after the injury.
00:06 How do you get back into the start in XI now? Because obviously when he came out of the side,
00:10 Leeds were struggling looking around for that forward and now suddenly you've got Ruta, you've got Perrault as well,
00:16 they've come in and they've been fantastic. So how does he get back into the side?
00:20 Yeah, they've got massive options now, that's it. You're quite right, obviously the season leads went up
00:25 and then the first season back under Bielsa, goals weren't really a problem and stuff.
00:28 Bamford obviously was at the centre of that, but obviously they created so many chances.
00:32 But after that, they started to dry up a little bit. Obviously, he was unlucky with injury,
00:35 but all of a sudden now, it's not quite goals galore at Leeds because they still need to take the chances more.
00:40 There's no doubt about that, but they've certainly got options there.
00:43 And can he get back in the start in XI? He certainly can.
00:45 Yeah, I think in terms of when he came on for his second game back in the midweek against QPR,
00:51 it made a big impact in that game, straight away and stuff.
00:54 Straight away, it looked like he could bring to the table. But what I would say about Bamford is one thing
00:59 that he's always excelled at and continues to do so is his hold-up play and whatever.
01:04 But Routier is getting just as good as that, really.
01:06 So it's going to be difficult in terms of bringing Bamford in for him because of that facet.
01:10 I mean, you can't really imagine a team without Routier at the moment.
01:13 What I would say is that Routier can quite clearly play out wide.
01:16 And then Pirro is quite clearly the man who's probably going to get the main goals this season.
01:20 But there is probably a way to get all three into the team.
01:22 As I say, if you get Routier out on the wing.
01:24 But I mean, what happens with Patrick Bamford's role remains to be seen.
01:28 At the moment, obviously, he's going to be a player that comes off the bench.
01:31 But that's a great option for Leeds to have somebody like that to bring on quite,
01:34 you know, what he thinks about that.
01:36 Well, he won't probably be too massively thrilled of it.
01:40 He'll want to start, obviously, and he will be pushing for a start.
01:42 So it's a great option for Leeds to have.
01:44 The bottom line is if you're going to get out of this division and go up,
01:46 you need serious attacking options in depth.
01:48 Daniel Farker said that himself, and Bamford is very much definitely part of that package.
01:52 So, yeah, fascinating one to see what happens.
01:54 At the moment, though, I don't think there's any doubt that it's Pirro and Routier as the front two.
01:59 And don't ask Daniel Farker about playing Pirro deeper, because we saw in his 12-minute answer
02:03 what he thought about that one, and it was very much justified within scoring from outside of the box in the last game.
02:08 So, yeah, good options to have, though, and a big battle on for Bamford that I'm sure will relish the challenge.
