Notre Dame Can Still Have A Successful 2023 Season

00:00 We said earlier, and I want to make sure people understand this, Notre Dame finished us a season 10-2.

00:09 I will consider it a disappointment relative to my expectations of what this team should have been.

00:15 But 10-2, a year after going 8-4, is still growth. It's not as much growth as I wanted, because there's two ways to evaluate the standard.

00:26 One is, there's a success or failure from the standpoint of, "Did you win a championship?"

00:32 At Notre Dame, the standard is the championship. Did you win or lose a championship? The answer is no.

00:36 In that regard, it's a failure. That's more of a big-picture type of thing.

00:42 But practically speaking, you also have to be able to look at, "Is your program trending in the right direction?"

00:48 10-2 is trending in the right direction. It may not have been the growth we had hoped that they would make, but it's still growth.

00:55 We can talk about the mistakes that got you to 10-2, where you should have been better, and how you correct them next season.
