Notre Dame Offense Must Build Confidence

00:17 important to what the product is gonna look like on Saturday.

00:21 And so, I mean, it's not even about the game plan, that's gonna be important.

00:25 That's an important piece to it and all that, but

00:26 I don't care if you come up with the best game plan in the world.

00:29 If you didn't go through this week of practice and

00:31 still getting your guys back to being confident, believing in each other and

00:35 those type of things.

00:35 It's because again, if I'm a coach, I don't care that they believe in me.

00:38 I need them to believe in each other.

00:40 That's a big thing.

00:41 Sam Hartman could think I'm the biggest moron on the planet.

00:44 But if he believes in his receivers,

00:45 he's gonna throw the ball to him no matter what I call, right?

00:48 If he believes in his offensive line, he's gonna be comfortable in the pocket.

00:51 If the center believes in the guy next to him,

00:53 the guard believes in the guy next to him, they're gonna play good football.

00:57 There's gonna be good communication.

00:59 The receivers are gonna say, hey, man, I got all the confidence in the world.

01:03 My quarterback, throw me that ball.

01:04 And there's just a level of competitiveness that we're gonna see from

01:07 this group.

01:08 So those are the things that I look at Ryan to say,

01:11 that is an overarching key that's gonna bleed into all these four.

01:15 Because these four won't work if that doesn't happen.

01:19 >> Yeah. >> But if that happens during

01:20 the week of practice and they come into this game energized and confident,

01:23 not false enthusiasm, cuz you look at USC stats and

01:26 you realize this is a really bad defense.

01:28 I'm talking about genuine confidence in who you are.

01:31 It doesn't even matter who the opponent is, in who you are.

01:34 If they're able to instill that, then these things are more than achievable,

01:39 Ryan, and likely to a degree.
